Clowe could easily get 4.75ish for 5 years on the open market. Maybe more. UFA contracts consistently get undervalued on here before hand.

Would I pay him that much? Probably not. Will Sather? Who knows.

What I do know is that the kind of leadership and toughness Clowe provides is 100% necessary for this team to have success. Can you find that elsewhere for cheaper? If so by all means do that. But spending the 4-5M on soft, perimeter skill is not a solution that is going to help the Rangers win either, IMO. If this season has shown anything it's that there needs to be a balance.

Easily? I wouldnt go that far. Whoever signs him, if anyone, for that long and that much would be incredibly stupid.

I like the leadership aspect of it, but at the same time, I wouldn't invest big-time money in an old, beat up pick-up truck with 150,000 miles on it.

Would rather have Zubrus(1st choice) and Clarkson(dont want him, but better than Clowe) than Clowe. He's scored in one game this year.

Nathan Horton could also be an attractive piece...definitely better player than both Clowe and Clarkson but the concussion thing is always going to be an issue....and a big concern for him playing in the playoffs without a deal for next season...he actually should sit the playoffs out rather than take a chance on getting a career ending concussion with no deal signed for next year . I would rather take Horton over Clowe...if healthy .

Wade Redden, Chris Drury, Darius Kasparitus, Scott Gomez, Donald Brashear, Bobby Holik, and Michal Rozsival all say hi.

id love Horton on this team. big power forward that can score.. he has been injury prone lately though. other than that id take that chance depending on the contract and years.. most id give is 3 years maybe 4 depending on the cap hit if it is low...

I'd take Clarkson in a heart beat for the right price. I'd take Clarkson and Clowe for the right price. Along with Dorsett, that's wild

Two 2nds got Derek Roy, a much more complete and creative offensive player.

Was pissed when the trade went down and nothing has changed. I don't want him re-signed.

Clowe has been HORRENDOUS. outside of 1 good game against the Pens he's been absolutely invisible. can't think of 1 play he's created...not 1.

I do not want to lose another 2nd rounder to re-sign this guy.... We can't afford to be stuck with another high price contract for a player potentially on the decline....

He is on the decline, people flipped out over one good game against the Pens.. He is what he is now... Don't resign him especially to 4M+.

Agree, somehow Sather has gotten a player who combines all the bad parts of Boyles & Pyatts games and is looking for a contract for $ 6 million a year

Only Uncle Glen could pull this off

Remember how people after that one game were ready to give him a 5-6 contract?

This guy is completely on the downward spiral of his career. Keep our other 2nd round pick thanks. One good game from the adrenaline rush of being traded. Thats it.

Maybe if we send him to Barbera Underhill he will learn how to skate...

And to think some of you were clamoring for him these past two years...."Trade Dubinsky for him"..."Trade Gaborik in a package for him"

Idiots. I wouldn't even trade Boyle for him.

Somehow the media/forum nearly convinced me he's a better version of Dubinsky.

Dubinsky is the better player at this juncture. Younger, skates way better, stronger along the boards and with the puck, and is better defensively.

Clowe doesn't really bring much when he's not scoring, other than the occasional fight. His heart is in the right place but he looks done.

Hilarious thread. The turn around in just two weeks is nothing short of entirely typical.

You gotta give it to Clowe. He's been here for 7 games, and he already looks like he fits right in: pretty darn mediocre.
