Hilarious thread. The turn around in just two weeks is nothing short of entirely typical.

You gotta give it to Clowe. He's been here for 7 games, and he already looks like he fits right in: pretty darn mediocre.

outside of our D, Nash (though he looked bad), and Stepan, everyone seems pretty mediocre.

His legs are gone. Hes still a smart player and you can see the experience, but hig legs are shot. He cant keep up with the speed in the league. He and Pyatt are clones when on the ice.

I thought as soon as the trade was made we gave up way too much for him, and its gonna be even worse if we resign him. His game against Pitts was clearly an abberation. he's not worth 4M+

I didnt like what we gave up for him either. I was wholly against it. I was happy after what I saw from the first game and eating some crow, but that looks to be an aberration based on adrenaline, game with new team etc etc. Its so obvious that his legs are gone. The guy knows how to play the game, hes smart and his experience is prevalent when I watch him, but he cant get to the spots on the ice that he needs to be because of his lack of foot speed. Its a shame, really.

Clowe and Richards both need a good offseason training regimen and a full training camp. If they are still like this, then yeah we are ****ed.

We would have to resign Clowe in order to give him that full training camp, with his play and his legs pretty much completely gone, are you willing to make that investment? I'm not

I never wanted him. lol, I knew it was a disaster from day 1.

Clowe is a unique player like Clarkson, Lucic and Kassian. He can just tell his agent to get him a Lucic contract and some team will give it to him. For that reason alone, I do not like this move. This is a pure rental unless as Sting said, we severely overpay for him and regret it down the line.

Prototypical Glen Sather move. Overpaid for a player 'in need for a change in scenery', turns out player was finished.

Anyone who watches West Coast games could tell, Clowe is finished.

Will be hilarious to see teams mesmerized by toughness and size an overpay duds like him and Clarkson this offseason.

Unfortunately, the Rangers are surely going to be interested in one of the two.

I think he's been solid, to be honest. He makes plays and is a great passer. Strong on the wall.

He's slow, but if he's being utilized properly, that shouldn't be that much of an issue. I did like the Clowe-Brassard-Zuccarello line, I think that should be kept together.

got to have that jam man!.. I honestly would be interested in Clarkson, he goes to the net something no one on our team does really. Though like you said, not for what someone is going to pay him.

regardless of how you feel he's playing, are you willing to make a 4M+ long term investment to resign the guy?

At this point, no.

I was behind the move when it was made...but I'm starting to change my mind. I like the acquisition, but man, it does hurt to give up 3 good picks (potentially) for a player who is just going to get slower.

That was what I said after learning of the trade. Most called me a pessimist and hating etc etc. I just dont like that we gave up good picks in a deep draft for him. No way I re-sign him at this point, and give up another 2n rounder to do it. Absolutely no way. Cut your losses, which are significant and move on.

only way i bring him back is on a somewhat cheap two year deal laden with performance bonuses, but im sure some bottom feeder will give him a ton of money and if he wants to go for that so be it.

If Clowe walks, this organization just rented a player with 0 goals for 2 2nd rounders essentially. Does that sound like something cup contenders do? What bothers me about Clowe isn't his lack of speed, he's not the only one on this roster with a lack of speed, trust me. What I'm concerned about is his penalties and not having a pulse on the games. 2 games in a row where he takes a boneheaded penalty...it cost us tonight, had a feeling it would. Also, look at the difference between their PP and ours. Takes the. 3 seconds for a shot we can't set up in 2 minutes. Something is off here.

Really didn't have a problem with him last night. Great at winning pucks along the walls and made smart, creative passes.

He's not gonna carry a team.

I have no problem with Clowe as a player. Teams make deep playoff runs with players like him. However, he'll be looking for a retirement contract over the summer, and he'll get PAID. I just hope it's not us. I wouldn't pay the guy more than his current cap hit for more than 3 years. Anything more, and we'd essentially be paying $4 million+ for a slow 3rd liner at the end of said contract.

Always loved Clowe's game But agree with you, watching last nights game shows how much his game has deminished
If im Ranger management I have a hard time paying what he will want to stay plus additional draft pick.

How many times will Clowe gain the zone and stop at the face-off circle looking to hit a trailing player entering the zone with speed only to have the play broken up?

I was behind the Clowe move, but he hasn't shown anything that would warrant a long term deal here. He needs to start making an impact asap. Yesterday he got hosed on that call, but he wasn't very noticible apart from the penalty.

He doesn't have to be a speed skater, but he should be driving to the net!

I don't think Clowe is any slower than Ryan Malone who, when healthy, is a good, effective player for TB. I still would look to re-sign him if his demands are reasonable.

Its not me willing to make that investment- its Sather. You know he gets enamored with certain players, especially those who hes traded for. He needs to justify the deal he made, and Clowes camp isnt stupid - they handpicked the Rangers because they knew it would not only be a good team to play for but also one that pays.

So i'm looking at this like hes already signed for two years, minimum.
