Clowe is a legit top-6 winger. His shoulder's messing him up this season.

Can't judge the trade until the season is over, but a useless Wolski helped get Clowe.

If the Rangers' don't advance deep in the playoffs, its essentially just for a high 2nd as the Clolumbus pick will be in vicinity of the Florida pick.

Deep draft. Worst case scenario, three picks between 65-75 isn't the end of the world.

My concern is Clowe's shoulder, but he did want to come here, and that says something.

This reeks of a desperate, yet obvious move. Sather hasn't had great success with those kinds of trades.

Shocking that Boyle and Thomas wasn't enough...

Reading the SJ board, he hasn't sucked. He's been snakebitten, much like Gaborik has been. He's still a valuable player if he isn't scoring because of his size and strength along the boards, and he's still putting up assists. He's always been more of a playmaker than a goal scorer, and he's not a shooter, but he but he drives to the net and he goes in front of the net. Could help the PP.

About a year ago, I posted two threads, one on the Trade Rumors board and one here saying the Rangers could really use Clowe. Then when I complained over the summer about our lack of depth, I brought up Clowe as a potential depth guy for the team.

At the time, the Shark fans were laughing at the idea of giving him up for a midrange prospect and the Rangers' first rounder, which was presumed to be late. But he had a rough year, so he suddenly became available for #2, #2 and #3. If he returns to form, this trade is a steal. He's a power forward who was scoring 52-62 points per season.

Really, just two years ago in 2010-11, he had 62 points, which would've made him by far the Rangers leading scorer that year.

If we still had our 1st this year, the opinion about this trade would be different. I'm on the fence about this trade. For a Clowe on his game, that's a good trade, for no-goal Clowe it's pretty bad. We'll see who shows up here.

So many people have clearly never seen him play.

Seriously.

This thread has been difficult to read. Can't believe people are mad at this. We're clamoring for a top-6 winger, we're clamoring for toughness, and we get both - now we're mad? Giving up the picks sucks, and, yeah, the guy hasn't scored this season. He has the past 4 seasons, though.

Besides, I'm pretty sure that Gaborik is going to be traded at the draft for picks. Which is why I'm not worrying about this move at all.

What are the picks we have left guys. Thanks.

We have our own third, Nashville's third, our own fourth, and our own sixth. I think we traded our seventh. Past 2013, all we've given up is our 2014 second (pending Clowe re-signing). We also have Columbus' third if we don't miraculously make the Stanley Cup Finals.

How ****ing bad is Clowe that all of you are crying? Seriously let him play, there's pros and cons to this trade but in the end the Rangers are a better team. Lets give him a few days you cry babies.

2nd Round Pick
3rd Round Pick
3rd Round Pick (NSH)
3rd Round Pick (CBJ)*
4th Round Pick
6th Round Pick

Columbus pick goes back to them if we make the finals.

Liked this one from the start. Will be a poor draft but there are assets to get back into round 1 or 2.

Love that they addressed a need. Tougher version of Brandon Prust with career better numbers. True hybrid player. Physical guy, who can play a regular shift. Maybe even top 6.

He's only 30. Totally pulling for him to rebound.

29/19/10 Give her a whirl!

This draft will be a doozy for us. I still hope they will use their later picks (3-7 rounds) on high risk offense-first guys like St. Croix and Fasth.

Oh stop being so negative, don't you know the past means nothing, he could return to form !

How many times have you heard that as a Ranger fan? :)

Shocking they didn't want our valuable assets on the farm huh?
