8 years, 48 mil. Seriously.

This is the only thing that worries me about this. If Sather has plans to resign him for anything resembling this **** is going to hit the fan - and rightly so. Even 5 years, 25 mil is too much. 5 year, 20 mil is borderline in my mind.

Oh stop being so negative, don't you know the past means nothing, he could return to form !

How many times have you heard that as a Ranger fan? :)

Shocking they didn't want our valuable assets on the farm huh?

Blows my mind people are still optimistic about a "change of scenery" working in NY. Especially with guys over 30. :help:

The only comparison between Taylor Pyatt and Ryane Clowe is that they are both hockey players. Clowe is everything this team has been missing since Brandon Prust left.

Clowe is 20 times the player Prust is.

This reeks of a desperate, yet obvious move. Sather hasn't had great success with those kinds of trades.

Shocking that Boyle and Thomas wasn't enough...

Why would you give up Boyle for Clowe? Who's our centers entering the playoffs? Richards, Stepan...?

You think we could acquire an upgrade on Boyle? Please look at the market and who's available. Look what Handzus brought back.

We need Boyle right now.

How ****ing bad is Clowe that all of you are crying? Seriously let him play, there's pros and cons to this trade but in the end the Rangers are a better team. Lets give him a few days you cry babies.

This is yet to be seen. Clowe could fit in nicely, or he could be a non-factor. Yknow, like he has been all season.

No way Slats signs him for that. Especially after hardballing Prust the way he did (and rightfully so).

4 mil per, Max.

It's weird to see the same people that claim you can only get high end talent in the top 5 or 10 picks overall in the draft so upset about losing a second and third rounder.

Seriously.

This thread has been difficult to read. Can't believe people are mad at this. We're clamoring for a top-6 winger, we're clamoring for toughness, and we get both - now we're mad? Giving up the picks sucks, and, yeah, the guy hasn't scored this season. He has the past 4 seasons, though.

Besides, I'm pretty sure that Gaborik is going to be traded at the draft for picks. Which is why I'm not worrying about this move at all.

Guy is not going to play like a top-6 winger. Dude looks like he is on the decline. I'll believe it when I see it.

He is tough, however.

I think Clowe could be useful, he's a tough SOB. But is he worth 3 draft picks anymore than Prust was worth all the money he got?

Like I said, good GM's would not have to pay such a price, just develop their own.

Comparisons to prust and of all players, Pyatt, are ridiculous. Great move. This is the type of player the rangers desperately need. He'll bring this team to war every night.

We don't need a Jagr, or Iginla, we need a physical, power forward, that can play in the top six.

The only question is what happens if sather moves Gabby.....

No chance......until the draft. Then yeah, 100% chance.

2nd Round Pick
3rd Round Pick
3rd Round Pick (NSH)
3rd Round Pick (CBJ)*
4th Round Pick
6th Round Pick

Columbus pick goes back to them if we make the finals.

hmmm, No 2nd. Interesting. Thanks -31.

We'll eat beef 4 lunch.

Boyle in top 10 in face off wins around 57%..

So many people have clearly never seen him play.

Couldn't have said it better myself. He's not Lucic, but he's just as tough, and has similar hands with the puck. I'm very happy with this pick up.

Due to the time zone I live in, West games are not late and I've seen him enough that I always wanted him on the Rangers.

You have a better shot by picking that high, but I don't like to lose so many picks in one draft, especially that high. Like I pointed out, we lost 7 assets, high picks or prospects that were used with high picks for two players. Sounds like moves a team that is close to competing for a Cup make. Those teams can afford to take a draft or two off.

Funny, Clowe was a late round pick himself. 2001 draft had more than a few late round gems. In the last few years teams are pulling some of their best prospects from the 5th to 7th round. The more picks you have the better the chances.
