I've been waiting what seems like forever for Spoons ... watched this kid a lot in the OHL also like to add if he didn't get hurt in his draft year he could have easily went in the first round ;)

Spoons in ways reminds of the Marchy situation in the past ... I felt Marchy should have made our team earlier then he did.. Not calling him Marchy just referring to the size its always mentioned

Sure size matters at times and yes bumping them of the puck can be easier but you have to catch them first... they've been playing there whole life against bigger kids .... ask Kane, Skinner, Enis, Roy and Im sure there's more ...

They just adapt look at Spoons in AHL goes from O to A and doesn't miss a beat ;) Not saying it always happens but it is overlooked on some teams

Just wait boys :D IF you haven't seen him play your in for a treat !!

Wait till you see what this PP specialist can do ;)

Spooner-Krecji-Horton
Looch-Bergeron-Seguin
Bourqe-Kelly-Peverly
McDermid-Campbell-Tardif

This assumes Paille cannot go. Top 2 lines have a forward good along the boards and in the corners.

Interesting but verrry unlikely

Look for Claude to keep the first line intact, slot Bourque onto the third and have either Campbell (likely) or Spooner with Bergy and Segs. Probably will have an all Providence 4th line.

I'd actually give Bourque a shot with Seguin and Bergeron, see if he can run with it

He did in the Leafs game and looked like a lost puppy.

After the Bourque shift (or two) they put Soup with Bergeron and he actually did pretty well there.

I have no idea how Julien plays things out tonight, but I still think putting Peverly or Kelly on the 2nd line makes more sense and slotting Spooner onto the third.

Shame Paille can't go-darn Meyers and his high stick!

Hope he and Thornton get better soon.

Btw- personally I'd like to see Spooner on the second line so we can get an idea of the offensive potential he will bring in the future.

That said...I don't see Claude starting him that high in Montreal. Happy to be proven wrong.

He's skating with the four line today. He'll either be on the 4th or not play from the looks of it.

Lucic - Krejci - Horton
Spooner - Bergeron - Seguin
Bourque - Kelly - Peverley
MacDermid - Campbell - Tardif

At least to start the game. I don't think that CJ will give the 4th line huge minutes, maybe like 4-5. If they're done, replace Spooner with Campbell from time to time.
I absolutely don't want to see Spooner between MacDermid and Tardiff ... that's just a waste. Hate the fact he practiced in merlot today.
With Marchand being out, I'm pretty sure Spooner will se some PP time. Looking forward to it.

You and I both.

I am on record here from before game 7 against the Flyers, where I said if they don't finally put Marchand in then they are going to lose game 7. It may sound ridiculous, but I think it would have been exactly what they needed. (I was also one of those early Marchand proponents, which made listening to 98.5 pretty difficult at times.)

Marchand would have been better than Whitfield.

I don't think the 4th line is the place for Spooner to shine, but I don't think there is any way Julien is putting him on the first or second. I hope he does well if he does play, be nice to see him get a shot at the big leagues.

Yeah Spooner is going to be the scratch unless Marchand doesn't play tomorrow in which case we're going to see (according to the lines in practice this morning):

Lucic - Krejci - Horton
Campbell - Bergeron - Seguin
Bourque - Kelly - Peverley
Tardiff - Spooner - MacDermid

That is a yucky icky lineup

Did Spooner play on a line with Tardiff in Providence? And if so, was that line defensively responsible? Otherwise, it seems like it would make more sense to swap Campbell and Spooner in order to make every line a bit more defensively responsible.

On the other hand, having Spooner play against 4th liners might give him a little extra room and leeway to put up some points.

This is of course assuming that he plays. I have a feeling Marchand will be ready to go tomorrow though.

This ^^ split soups and spoons ice time on 2nd line if there's no marchy ;)

Pretty confident this is what Julien will go with (assuming Marchand is out). LKH will get their regular ice time, Campbell will get about 1.5-2x his regular ice time cause he'll double shift with Bergeron and Seguin and roll out on the 4th line.

I can't say I'm very confident with that lineup and I can't imagine that 4th line will see more than like 5 minutes. I think CJ would just rather have soups playing more minutes then next to nothing with that 4 line and his regular pk minutes.

BTW is there any word on Paille's injury. Seems to be missing a lot of time from a high stick

My guess is that Marchand may turn into a game day decision. I hope he is in the game, because he will be missed.

Would love to see them put Spooner in the line up though rather than scratch him even if Marhand plays. I am interested to see what he does.

And the Bruins are playing in Montreal, there are going to be tons of PK minutes and my guess is that without Paille (and Marchand if he is out) that Soup will get tons of PK minutes (figure Krejci may end up with a few too if Julien wants to role 3 PK forward units).

Spooner is an offence skating type player,If he is not used in right situation you will not really see his potential.Read interview with him and way he spoke he sounds really nervous too.I am not expecting too much to soon. With the guys misssing (Marchand,Thonton,Paille, and Krecji given day off for maintenance,) and facing habs in Monreal might be tough one.Get the PK ready to go as usual in that barn.

Not sure he gonna dress though till game time. And you just know he has be healthy cause teams try to get him all the time.I also hope Bruins dress MacDermid to face Prust. That way Lucic does not have to sit for a bum like him and be even sweeeter when he loses to a kid that just got in the nhl basically. And just for the record,Tardiff did not impress me like way they been talking about him either, but i understand a kid and just getting feet wet.Give him time, just hate when is vs scabs,,

In a way I think Spooner would be good in Marchands spot, he bring alot of what Marchand bring with speed and hands. But in another way, thinking of Spooner and Seguin on the same line? It might be too soft and weak in the corner to really be effective.

True but it`s not that the B`s are playing a bruiser opponent tonight. The Habs made a few moves but they are still not close to being a team that plays big, they`d be fine

Ahhhh...revisionist history.

I can still remember the educated masses here at HF with the torches and pitchforks calling Marchand a bust and calling for his head after a 24 game debut with almost nothing to show for it.

Funny how people forget.

I'm with you on that one, Joe. I think you and I were among the very few that wanted to see him get his chance. Kind of funny because I don't think I've agreed with anything you said before or since...:naughty:
