What happens if the CBJ continue to play better without Joey in the lineup? This story is only going to get more perplexing.

That last couple of games have made me reverse course slightly. I thought for sure the team needed a true top pairing D guy to compete and maybe the team could entertain offers, but the D have shown if they play smart and within themselves they can be fairly steady. If joey can get healthy and play like a true 1C, this team might be close to what was advertised in the offseason and preaseason.*

They won last night, but that was about the only positive from that game. That game looked pathetic and gross, if we played an average team last night, they probably get their butts kicked in the first and second period.

Let's see how confident you are after we play the Caps.

I must admit I have been happily surprised by the play of the D under Torts. This is a system that they play well under. But you know that situation we've seen plenty of the last two games, where the team gets hemmed in shift after shift and gums up the middle of our zone so the other team can't get chances? The D are "playing well" if they block shots and limit chances in that scenario, but you really need some puck moving D so you don't get hemmed in your zone in the first place.

Being an Arizona Cardinals fan, this story reminds me of the same story Patrick Peterson had with the Cardinals last year. He was sluggish and struggling and then they found out he was diabetic.

Yeah that was on my list of possibilities. Untreated diabetes can really mess with all of your systems. But if treated it can have minimal effect on your well being. Max Domi, son of Ty, is a Type 1 Diabetic and is doing quite well as a rookie in the NHL. BJ Crombeen is another example of a Type 1 diabetic in the NHL.
My son has Type 1 and we manage it. He is a hockey player and is very active. The key is management.
Whatever it is I hope Joey is doing well.

Ha I said "fairly Steady" lol. I think they are getting the sea legs( cue pic of Lt. Dan.), not quite parade planning level yet.

I'm trying to be more optimistic.

True, but we played like crap against Buffalo and toronto, so atleast we have shown we can play better against fellow bottom feeders. They are better, not great but better.

I'm going to guess this might have something to do with altitude sickness. I've been affected by altitude before and I didn't feel well and felt like my heart was beating out of my chest. It takes a couple of days to get that out of your system to start feeling better. Just a wild stab at it.

Altitude sickness was my initial reaction as well, since it supposedly flared up in Denver. Nothing really to support that though other than the fact that they were in Denver.

My daughter got bad altitude sickness (headache, vomiting, low pulse ox) at Breckenridge Co while skiing. She typically has no issues with altitude. As it turned out she went west with a pre-existing upper respiratory condition that was made worse by the altitude. Altitude sickness usually resolves fairly quickly. In fact in this case descending from 10,000 ft to 7,000 feet and her condition improved within hours.

re: Altitude sickness

I thought the issue started for him with the Chicago game? Wouldn't that rule out altitude?... Not to mention that he's played in Colorado before, and was in Whistler, BC during the offseason.
