Joey should've said earlier that he's feeling fatigue and loss of energy and not just try to fight through it. Playing while ill can have serious consequences. If the team's personnel knew that he's been having these issues then it's been reckless to put him on the ice.

Do you think "the club" or his agent actually asked Jojo if this is related to Torts in any way? If so, how does it make you feel that they WOULD have to ask him that? And if not, HOW would they know that it DOESN'T have anything to do with the new coach.

I would love to know also what is really going on. But this is the NHL...Exact opposite of NFL where they are obligated to disclose all injuries weekly....teams subject to fines if they don't.

Most all NHL teams keep injuries internal as best they can.

The Jackets will disclose the real issue, whatever it is, when and if they decide the time is right. Until then we can speculate all we want. I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, so I'm not even gonna guess.

The conclusions you jump to and your repeated implications that It's All Connected. The bias is in presuming that Something Is Fundamentally Wrong With Johansen, and therefore all data that has come out about him is being used to attempt to support that theory.

Can you attempt to actually give a reasonable answer to any of the multiple questions I asked?

Nobody here can because of a lack of data. We have circumstantial information but no hard evidence.

I think conclusions are premature as we lack sufficient data. Speculation on theories is one thing, but that's not what's taking place.

I wasn't going to add more speculations until more information came out, but at this point I have guesses as to what's going on with Joey that aren't particularly offensive to anyone so I'll go ahead and share them.

Joey has had several stretches over the years where he is noticeably slower. Not "Jumbo Joe" controlling the game slow, but playing like he's not in shape at all. He had one stretch, I believe last December, where he was moving at something approximating half speed. His motor has cyclical drop-offs. That could be psychological, physical, who knows. He has a lackadaisical mindset, and that could be driving things, but I also suspect he wants to win and play hard just as much as anyone but he's not getting the physical results he wants and he's mentally accommodating to that with an accepting mindset. If you've ever tried your hardest at something and failed you might know what I mean.

But with Tortorella here Joey is in tough. He doesn't want to go back out there and face coach Tortorella without either having his best energy, or having some kind of diagnosis to explain why he doesn't have his best energy. He knows he's just going to end up stapled to the bench looking like a bum. So he's taking this time to figure out what's going on.

(That or I could be completely wrong and this is just a temporary illness and not a cyclical thing.)
