anemia? Blahblah might "yell" at me again, but based on personal experience, feeling the effects of anemia take a bit of exertion. Floating along in normal life, it didn't bother me.

lol, yelling...

Sorry to hear about the anemia. Having said that, that's pretty easy to diagnose. If it was something that simple they would know about it. Honestly though we don't have enough information to even hazard a guess what might be wrong with him, if anything.

I appreciate that there are illnesses that could cause the exact same symptoms. Everything from cancer to the flu apparently.

I mean, are people still looking for an explanation? I thought the media and Joey already confirmed it as a fitness and conditioning issue.
Nope. They confirmed the symptoms and Torts' reaction to same, not the cause.

No. I see no confirmation of anything from the media or Johansen.

Oct. 28 Dispatch (http://bluejacketsxtra.dispatch.com...0/johansen-improving-could-play-friday.html):

Blue Jackets center Ryan Johansen, out the past two games with a mysterious illness, is feeling better, club GM Jarmo Kekalainen said.

Oct. 30 Dispatch (http://bluejacketsxtra.dispatch.com/content/stories/2015/10/30/jackets-lead.html):

Exactly what was bothering Johansen has not been made public. Officially, he missed the previous two games — both Blue Jackets wins — because of “illness.â€
But what matters, Johansen said, is that he is back to himself.
“I feel good,†he said. “I just had some things I’m not used to and I wanted to do some digging and figure out what’s going on. I’m happy that I can come back out here and get back on the ice and know that I’m 100 percent now.

Oct. 31 Dispatch (http://bluejacketsxtra.dispatch.com...lla-differ-on-energy-level-in-practice.html):

Johansen also confirmed a recent report by the New York Post that Tortorella told Johansen he was “not in shape.†The comment was made after the first period of Tortorella’s first game behind the Blue Jackets’ bench on Oct. 22 at the Minnesota Wild.
“That was something that was said in the (dressing) room,†Johansen said. “That’s something that shouldn’t leave the room. You always hear these codes from teams and players in the league: What’s said in the room is said in there, and that’s between us. Whatever me and Coach talk about is between me and him.â€
Asked how such a comment might ave been leaked, Johansen said: “I have no idea.â€

When I look back at the events, him being called out during the first intermission, and we have all seen how Torts can talk in the locker room, and then he was benched in the 3rd period, that he maybe Johansens said some things that shouldnt have been said to Torts, and Torts sent him home . I'm not buying this whole illness thing. Combine that with practice on Thursday, where Johansen said he had a good practice, and media brought up that Torts said he looked like he still lacked energy, and would watch him on Friday. Johansen said that was news to him.

I normally can tell when you guys throw in a "subtle" insult or compliment, but, I'm not sure what ur getting at here. Nothing?

Apology accepted?

Again, what has been repeated over and over to the "nothing to see here" clan, is that a "common" or 'ockhams razor' type theory WOULD have been told to us. Ryan Johansen is not the only guy in all of pro sports to keep his "medical history" private.

Nearly every "diagnosis" you guys have claimed it MUST be has been disproved.

Now we are pretty much to an STD or that "he doesn't care". Since this type of **** has been proven to be talked about multiple times, what do you think Ockham thinks it is?

However SOME OF YOU MUST REMEMBER my analogy on Jojo being a tall blonde playboy model!! Ehhh....

Maybe it is ALL CONNECTED....

It's not "nothing to see here", it's "not enough information to make an INTELLIGENT remark". Your guess has the same chance of being correct as everyone else's guess, including the 30 that I threw out.
I don't think for one second that Joey is lazy. He is one of the best players in the NHL. You do not get that way by being lazy. If he were lazy he would be on here eating HoHos and spouting off about how world class athletes are lazy.
One last thing about conspiracy theories. Please keep track of how many turn out to be correct and how many are incorrect and once you have this accurate log determine if conspiracy theories are a good way to look at the world. As crazy as the world is you will eventually get one conspiracy theory right but that doesn't make it a reliable way to process information. You will get 20 conspiracy theories wrong to get to the one that is held up as proof that conspiracies are real.

Really? So his being out of shape is a symptom now?

...Yes. Yes it is. It can be a symptom of persistent illness, or a symptom of persistent laziness, or maybe something else entirely. We Do Not Know, and jumping to conclusions is extraordinarily foolish - especially with regards to a player that possesses the ability to fill a position we have been desperately trying to get for TWELVE YEARS.

The only person involved that I trust to tell the truth is Torts. It benefits no one involved to admit their star player or star client is out of shape. Also, this story was broken by a New York media guy, expecting the Dispatch to break any kind of story may be wishful thinking. I don't think this question will ever be answered and just swept under the rug like the FO does with everything.

I don't think he is lazy for the record, I think* he doesn't take great care of himself. I mean it's not like he has access to some of the best medical care available or anything. Its also not like this is a one time thing with him.

And this he's got ability stuff is poopoo. All the talent in the world does this club no good sitting at home. It really hasn't helped much on the ice either if we are honest.

When 2 weeks go by and no one on the club talks about his "illness", we will know for sure.

* I've never said I know what's wrong with him, I guess we're not allowed to speculate.

Keep in mind that the New York media you speak of, Larry Brooks, has a horrible relationship with Torts. You think he and Torts are texting back and forth about how out of shape Joey is? :shakehead

Here are some interactions between Torts and Brooks. This is the source??

Brooks was still the first person to break the story. I know they have a history. Joey confirmed what Brooks reported as true.

But that's not what you asked. You suggested that the out if shape diagnosis was confirmed by media and Joey. It's clearly not.

You believe a certain scenario to be the case. That's fine. But in no way is that scenario confirmed in the manner you suggest.

Joey confirmed that he was fatigued. No other information has been released.

Again, no one is gonna say he is out of shape except the HC who did. Maybe I am reading to in-between the lines*, but as someone who was on the fence about this when it first came up, i'd be stunned if anything is ever confirmed one way or the other.

*Probably

Right. But you posted this.

I thought the media and Joey already confirmed it as a fitness and conditioning issue.

So I replied to it, by saying no.

You're right. I should have used cofirmed it was said, not confirmed as the diagnosis. I'm following up by saying I will be surprised if it's ever confirmed and to me the implication seems pretty clear.

In my mind if it's not ever dignified with some type of public response and his "illness" is swept under the rug like it looks like it's going to be, lack of conditioning is going to be my guess. Or TB.

It does leave it open to interpretation, and your position is not unreasonable. There are reasons why it could remain private, but given the amount of attention this business received, you'd think they'd want to put it to bed if they could. That said, there are other not-unreasonable conclusions that could be drawn.

As for me, I've decided not to draw any.

His agent Overhardt came out with some quotes that he was working with management to try and find the root of the illness. With the relationship the agent and the Jackets had in the past, I am inclined to think he would have come out with both guns blaring at the FO if Joey had been shipped home by Torts for mouthing off.

But, something is weird about the whole thing. I'm curious enough that I hope the Dispatch breaks the story eventually, but don't think it will happen.

Has there been any update on Ryan?

Update? You talking bout an Update? There's gotta be actual "info" or "news" reported before you can get an update.

But welcome to the "dark side" anyway. :shakehead

no

still out of shape and under performing

Since what date?

I thought he was sick and performing fine?

There's NO WAY any of us on here(as big CBJ fans) should not "demand" or at least WANT to know just WHAT the issue is or was. Maybe I don't deserve an explanation, but surely the "poor souls" who have been cursed with the ability to spend hundreds of hours and hundreds or thousands of dollars to watch grown men play a game, do, right?? You deserve answers right? Or is it that you guys don't WANT to know the reason(s) for Jojo's struggles in his young pro career?

Eventually(if we aren't there already) the "Rug" that is Ryan Johansen will have so much dirt and feces swept under it that this team will no longer be able to "stand on" for comfort and future, potential "precious rug" buyers will not be duped into paying top dollar for a big, poorly made, counterfeit rug with s#it all over the back side.

I swear you have to be trolling, there is no way at this point you aren't, and can believe the things that you post. You act as if nobody on here but yourself acknowledges that Johansen is struggling right now, but excuse us if we aren't all ready to just trash the guy every day. You aren't seeing anything that everybody else doesn't already see, but for whatever reason, you seem to believe it's you against the rest.
