I think he can be better at using his size to create space but find his ability to control the puck in traffic to actually be quite good, and definitely wouldn't say he has zero creativity though not high end. There's a lot of development to go for Boucher but I find your hard stance on him being nothing more than a 4th liner perplexing. It's not like Boucher doesn't have any redeeming qualities outside of his physicality, he shows more than being good on the cycle.

I find your qualifier so odd especially considering Boucher's 19 year old season is so young. There's a good number of names I could list but using a stat line to define a player is so shallow, it holds no relevance. Nobody is saying Boucher is going to be star in this league, some see the potential to be a useful player even if he isn't high end. He very well could never become a full time NHL player but the stance you are arguing is so rigid. It's strange.
If there is a good number of them then please go ahead and list them

Boucher isn’t anything like Wilson as a player, anyone expecting that is in for disappointment.

Ottawa management said as much, not to expect Wilson.

Guys with similar numbers at 19 (Boucher will finish with a ppg more than likely) who had/have solid NHL careers from 2010-2017 taken only in the 1st:

Rakell had 44 points in 41 (1.07 ppg)
Watson had 68 points in 61 (1.11 ppg)
Namestnikov had 71 points in 63 games (1.12 ppg)
Faska had 48 points in 59 games (0.81 ppg)
Hartman had 53 points in 52 games (1.02 ppg)
DeBrusk had 39 points in 37 games (1.05 ppg)
McLeod had 44 points in 38 games (1.15 ppg)
Jones had 24 points in 31 games (0.77 ppg)

The difference between 0.99 and 1.01 is absolutely meaningless, other than saying one was ppg. 99 in 100 vs 101 in 100.

Obviously the list would grow by a ton going through the whole draft.

Lots of guys who don’t substantially produce as 19 year olds become solid NHLers.

Boucher isn’t a top 10 worthy pick, not sure any Sens fan would argue that point.

He’s not a guy that needs to score to make it in the NHL. He’ll be an energy guy in the bottom 6. If he can pot 20-40 points, awesome.

Not what anyone wanted with the pick, but the pick is made.

3/4 of that list are guys in their D+1

Boucher is in his D+2. He'll be 20 soon.

That whole list was in their 19 year old season...as is clearly stated in the first sentence

Every single one turned 20 the next year, the only ones in their D+1 as late birthdays are Hartman, Debrusk and Namestnikov. No clue how 3/8 is 3/4

Sure but outside of DeBrusk (who put up 82pts the same age Boucher put up 12), and Rakell, none are more than 3/4th line tweeners.

This list is actually a pleasant surprise. Not that it's anything to write home about but I honestly didn't think there would be any comparably producing junior players to Boucher that actually made the NHL. Expectations are still at ground zero but at least there are a few comparables now.

Which is exactly what we are expecting Boucher to be.....a 3rd/4th liner who can jump into the top 6 is we need a physical guy who can make room for guys. We aren't expecting top 6 production.

Then you have guys like Hagel, Gourde, etc. etc. who all put up ppg or less in their 19 year old seasons who have become great players. It's not uncommon, at all. It's expected to score over a PPG, and players should be, when they aren't it's concerning, but isn't the be all end all.

We know we aren't getting what most/we expected out of a top 10 pick with Boucher. No arguments it was a bad pick in that slot. He is a bottom 6 guy, who is projecting like a bottom 6 guy. It's a sunk cost for the Sens, and he's doing what he needs for his role in the NHL.

He'll finish the year somewhere in the 1.00-1.15 ppg range, will head to Belleville for a while, and then get cups of coffee until he makes the Sens full time in an energy role.

Damn shame the Senators aren't already A: filled to the boots with these guys, B: Need the type of help a top 10 pick usually brings, and C; are in win now mode. :)

As quoted, we know we aren't getting what we wanted out of the 10th pick, and that it was a bad pick....

Kines is clearly the better prospect, but if Boucher does anything at all at the Worlds, he'll do better than Kines' no-show at the August tourney.

Probably a lot closer to unanimous than a even split imo

We selected him 10th overall and reached while doing so, we at the time were evidently the highest on him and as of right now obviously have the most invested in him.

I would be very upset if Dorion turned Knies down in favour of Boucher.

Now with everything being framed, I’d imagine it’s a lot more than half. I would bet there’s a higher chance of 32/32 than not.

Anyone have any guesses as to which team will dislike him after the Juniors when he knocks their prospect into the 10th row with a hit?

Habs and Leafs fans already treating him like Tom Wilson.
Tom Wilson would be an absolute dream outcome for him so not sure I understand your point . Wilson can play
