There is a difference between being 100% sure he's a bust and being puzzled as why that guy was a top 10 pick.
There’s been a huge conflation with that.

He’s a sure fire NHLer, while at the same time also should have never been a top 10 pick.

Nowhere near a bust, and a pretty poor selection at 10. The pick has been made, no use crying over spilled milk.

His game will be suited to a very physical button 6er who can jump up onto a PP or higher line to play a net front or physical presence.

The fact he shouldn’t have been a top 10 pick, which I don’t think anyone could rightly argue at this point in time, doesn’t mean he’s a bust, which is a stance many have taken.

Remove the draft slot, and the usual expectations most have with that draft slot, out of the equation, and Boucher wouldn’t be getting constantly shit on, unfortunately the nature of the beast with high picks.

He’s going to be a Sen, for sure, in a few seasons.

With his skillset and how hard he hits, I understand why the Sens wanted him. He unfortunately can't play that style without getting injured. He missed almost all of his draft year with injury, they bet on that injury being random (as most injuries are) and seem to be losing the bet.

I get the guy is only 20, but to play the game he does, you need to be big, strong, and fortunate enough to not be very injury prone.

Unfortunately, he's not that big, he is definitely strong, but he's incredibly injury prone.

It's hard to imagine him having much of an NHL career. Maybe he sticks it out as a 4th line guy a few years down the road.

As a Sens fan, incredibly disappointing pick. Big gamble.

I guess on the other hand, some of the guys drafted around Boucher aren't doing so hot either.

Tough break for the 67's as the playoffs draw near:

Right shoulder, torn labrum requiring surgery to repair.

Says he should be healthy for next years NHL camp but I wonder what they do with him coming off injury. Do they put him in the AHL/ECHL or send him back to the 67s for an overage season? I think the latter is a better way to grow his game while having and stay healthy.

injury concerns are real because of the game he plays. here’s to hoping he can stay healthy.

These have to have been two of the worst D+1 and D+2 seasons for a top 10 pick in a very, very long time.

Especially for a guy with that kind of speed and size that should be dominating kids in junior
He should have never sniffed the 1st round let alone a top 10 pick. I know for a 100% fact that some teams didn't have him in the 2nd round either...

Terrible pick from the moment it was announced.

Those teams just didn't see the skill worthy of a 1st/2nd round pick ?

Would sens fans rather the sens include him in a medium, or bigger trade, trade him for whatever they can get, or just stick with him at this point ?

You go down with your ship at this point.

It sucks because when he has played this year he has played very well. He just can’t stay healthy.

With the game he plays - he can‘t be made of glass.

That 2021 class is looking real bad for Ottawa. And it disn’t look good at the time they made the selections either. They tried to be the smartest guys in the room, and it didn’t work out.

Not going to lie, it seems trying to be the smartest person in the room seems to fail way more often than not.

Yzerman and Seider is one of the rare exceptions.

Boston tried that once in 2015. It cost them a cup (maybe more) IMO.
Yeah, but it was a smart move, not a pull something out of nowhere smart, though. He was listed as a mid-1st by the time the draft came around for most.

Boucher was a late 1st ranked by Bob, but if seems a lot had him 2nd round.

holy shit, that's an all flub. His online persona is pretty sensitive, wonder how he handles the criticism coming his way.

He's so sensitive to criticism and is insulated by his fanboys. I got piled on a while back (not on here) for suggesting that there's no way he watches all the guys that he comments on closely - and I based that on common sense and comments like this, where its clear he wasn't watching very closely.

He would be more palatable if he wasn't so absurdly over-defensive
