Looks like Strome's climbed a bit on people's radar as of late. I figured if we had a bad season, we could pick him up, but I never imagined we'd start having THIS bad of a season, and that he'd climb THIS much to match us... is it written in the stars? Of course it is.

I'm not sure he's what we need, though, as he's not goalie, defenseman, AND forward. Oh... and he's not a coach either. Oh well, maybe he can learn.

I don't think the Avs should go with Strome as they are loaded at center with Duchene, Stasny, O'reilly and Hishon. IMO, you guys should be with either a nasty two-way/defensive Dman (Siemens/Musil) or talented wingers (Saad/Puempel/Bartschi)

Always take the BPA. Never draft by need. He can be converted too. That's the plan with Hishon right now as well seeing that he can't beat Stastny or Duchene for a top 2 center spot and be useless on bottom 6.

Well dont worry cause Florida will prob be picking before both of you guys and would probably take Strome at #5-6 (and I expect them to finish at #5).

I'll pose a copule questions for those that have seen him that wasnt asked above...

How close to NHL-ready do you think he is? Can he crack a lineup like Skinner did this yr?

His main knock that I have seen is size/weight. Does he appear that way and do you think he's got the ability to easily add some size?

Honestly I don't see him playing in the NHL next year, Jeff Skinnner from what I saw of him was much thicker at the same age even before he trained with Gary Roberts.

Strome is actually not overly small he's just pretty thin. Pretty sure he's 6'0 but might be just under, and i'm not an expert on this mind you but he appears to have the body type that wouldn't have a lot of trouble putting on weight. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him weigh close to 200 by the end of next year

Just checked and OHL Network has him listed at 6.01" and 183. Honestly I saw him under a week ago and I think these numbers might be a little generous but nonetheless its not like he's 5.11" 170

I just think if they are picking top 6, Siemens or Musil shouldn't be picked that high.

Strome would be my guy. BPA. And I wouldn't have any problem converting him to a winger.

If the Devils are picking somewhere between 5-10, and they have a chance to take Strome, I hope they do. I believe he would fit the Devils mould well, and he has a chance to be one of the better centres selected in this year's draft.

Ryan Strome vs Tyler Seguin

I'm finding we only see the highlight reel goals of Strome this year but I think his best asset is playmaking but he can finish plays too. Just wondering how he compares to Seguin in that regard.

What will Ryan Strome become?

This guy has been lighting it up in the Ohl this year, with 92 points in just 56 games. When will he be ready for the NHL? What will he become? I'd love the Oilers to grab him! I think a Hall-Strome-Eberle line would be insane!

What are some of his strengths and weaknesses?

The general consensus on HFboards is that Tyler Seguin has more potential.

IMO, they are very comparable and have put up very similar numbers, in a similar situation.

I believe he is a lock to be a top 8 pick with the potential to be in the top 5

1. Larsson
2. RNH
3. Couturier
4. Landeskog
5. Strome
6. Hamilton
7. Murphy
8. Huberdeau

I agree with you that he'll be a top-8 and is a solid prospect, one I hope the Bruins are able to take a long hard look at but I don't know if I see the similarities with Seguin or how he's in a comparable position. The Whalers in 09-10 had 2 players in the OHL top-60 for scoring, The 10-11 IceDogs have 5. Strome has more depth on his team whereas Seguin was his team.

You're probably going to have the first overall pick and you have your eyes set on Strome? He is a real good prospect but I think RNH and Couturier project to become better players.

I do get the sense though Strome will be one of the more effective goal scorers of his draft class. As for a timeline on him, he could probably use another year of JRs but it wouldn't surprise me if he forces whatever team that drafts him into having to make a tough decision come training camp.

I hope he fall into Bruins pick territory. :D

Just out of curiosity, you don't want Edmonton to draft Larsson?

I think that Strome will be better then both RNH and Couturier. Couturier is already in his third year and Storme is putting up better numbers in his second year.

Strome has great vision on the ice and makes great passes. He would do good with Hall
