i want to ask you guys how do you rate Michkov compared to Caufield (both elite undersized goal scorers). Who own the better shot, the better hands, the better skating ability.. i think Michkov is on another level as a prospect but it is a decent comparison.

Completely different level. Matthews goalscoring skills with Kucherov sense/physique and skating.

Does anyone know if this a conditioning stint or a hockey/coaching decision? As strong as SKA are, Michkov is so smart and skilled, I have to imagine he’d make a positive impact in the KHL if given a legit opportunity.

It was his 2nd game after Emelin injured him at the preseason tournament. And it's classical "play 8 min/game in NHL or 18 min/game in AHL' dilemma, just for KHL/VHL.

He is not yet at 100% after his injury and is in good hands in the VHL at the moment. He didn't do much in the last game and looked very rusty. Had some giveaways. Held the puck for too long. His shots were quite misplaced and he was physically dominated. I think the VHL will do him good to get used to men's hockey. He will be a KHL regular by midseason.

Question for those who know the VHL better than me: What are the best draft year seasons in terms of goals and pts? I know Miro had 10g 6a in 31 games last year and was the most productive. Is that the record?

And Michkov is now 3+1 after 2 games. Played better today. Maybe less dangerous offensively but with less mistakes too. With time an space like on the PP already almost impossible to keep him from the scoring sheet on this level.

That's very Michkov-like though. There have been several times I didn't notice him too much, and came away rather unimpressed.......
only to realize he has 3 points on the scoresheet.

He's such a smart, smart player, He doesn't always need to forcibly dominate, or make highlight reel plays in order to affect the outcome of a game.

Michkov is a classic Soviet style player. His genius is his ability to find space without the puck. He makes himself an easy option for teammates, and routinely factors into scoring chances by making quick smart decisions.

This, along with an ultra-elite offensive toolbox, makes him a game breaking winger prospect
