This guy will be franchise player. People just forget because Russia has been closed out. He was ahead of Bedard in international tournaments before that. He will come to the league and compete with Bedard. He was already playing under draft age almost ppg in Sochi KHL.

He’s a shorter, smarter version of Jason Robertson IMO. Not a world-class skater but great on his edges and he’s a wizard with the puck. like JR, he is the rare guy who can do a lot of damage stationary. It’s incredible.

I think he can be the best wing in the NHL and anyone who saw him at the U18s knows that he’s much closer to Bedard than he is to Fantilli.

Looks like he drops to the 5th spot. The habs won't draft a russian and Arizona will make out at the draft like bandits.
???
I have no line on Hughes, but in general, Montreal is very interested of having a star. Just change his name to Michkovault, teach him a couple of words of French, and he will set the town on fire.
Montreal has some nice players to play with him, also.

Yes, I think they take Carlsson. Someone also posted that apparently CBJ is big on Smith, no sources or anything, so I’m not sure there’s any truth to that, but I see CBJ taking Smith before Matvei as they really need a 1C and not another winger.

I really hope Grier takes Michkov if he’s there at #4. I’m sure Larionov will be getting a call soon to ask about Matvei. Larionov is probably familiar with Michkov and Larionov is still pretty close with SJs front office.
I've seen it but can't remember the source.. Lebrun?
Doesn't mean much, I'm sure 32 GMs like Smith Mitchkov Carlsson

I think a lot of things will clear up once he comes to the draft combine and completes team interviews.

I personally don’t see why he might be happy with the way SKA has handled him so far and with the recent loss of his father, who knows, perhaps he might want a change of scenery to make things easier for himself.

So based on how the combine goes, he might get drafted top 3 or outside of top 6.

I think Montreal draft him at 5th, Hughes insisted on drafting the best player and the guy that will the best at his peak. He was very open in his press conference after the loterie

I'm just boxscore watching but he seems to be having a very quiet time with the U25 team playing against Belarus and Kazakhstan. 2 points in 5 games IIRC.

Betting on him going to SJ, Grier seems to be comfortable with Russian players and there's a spot on RW tailor made for him

Barabanov-Hertl-Michkov
Eklund-Couture-Wiesblatt

Uhh, our team is gonna to look much different by the time Mich makes it over here. Couture probably won’t even be on the team.

So Anaheim then
If he doesn't go 2nd it's proof gms care nothing about the long-term. All this bullshit about he might not come over is the same crap we heard in Vancouver about Podkolzin or any number of other examples. The amount of money these kids can make in NA will always be a huge get and if people are being honest there's a bias among Americans towards Russians long before they invaded Ukraine. While not as bad here in Canada but even here in Canada my Grandparents changed their Ukrainian name (Kruk) to Mitchell) in 1946 because of the way they were looked at outside of their community in Winnipeg.
My mom told me how they were teased and called peasants and worse.
The kid should be #2 and to be honest if Bedard ends up at wing, the gap closes considerably imo.

1+2 actually. 1 goal plus two primary assists. Plus some moments when his linemates didn't convert his great passes into goals. Plus great chances he didn't convert himself. Plus that michigan attempt. Plus he didn't have a lot of TOI because it looks like Rotenberg's system isn't for him. The last thing is the most problematic because Rotenberg is SKA's head coach...

If Michkov is available at 5 and Habs don't pick him the entire front office has to get sacked that day. Doesn't matter if they've been there 2 years or 2 days, everyone should get fired and banned from working in hockey ever again.

If last year is any indication he won't be invited.

Im hearing some pretty wild news regarding him father, does anyone know if there is any merit to this? Absolutely wild if so and I hope the young man is well

Edit: apparently this isn't completely new news... Not sure how I missed it originally
