Bit of a threadjack...
My view was that he was on Bedard's level. Still is. BUT I wouldn't draft him that high because, as a GM, I'd have no control over where he goes or how he develops. I draft him, my team probably sucks because I'm drafting 1st or 2nd and I may be fired before he ever suits up.
So my question is for Flyer's fans...
Are you happy with how he is being developed in the KHL?
Are you happy to wait two more years till he arrives?
That's all.
We don't really have much insight into how he's being developed at the KHL level. Some folks are able to stream the games and watch how he plays, but we don't really get the day-to-day. Will say that it's a relief he got loaned to Sochi, because SKA just didn't use him at all—and it's concerning that they still hold his rights and seem to not want to use him. Not concerns about the player himself, but whether he'll get a fair shake if he isn't loaned again next year.
Are we happy to wait? Sure, he's their best prospect since Eric Lindros. As good as the Flyers have been in the past, they've rarely had a singular talent like this one ever. If you've gotta wait, you've gotta wait—as long as he comes over eventually. Seems to be some belief that he could buy himself out of his last year and come over after next season. Briere and Jones have winked at "3 years or sooner" a few times, so that would be cool I guess.
