So if you're good enough SKA will play you regardless of your NHL aspirations?

These conspiracy theories are getting tiresome aka:

"The KHL benches NHL bound players; er, uh, unless (insert countless amounts of reasons). But I KNOW (insert favorite prospect) is being jerked around! He wants to go to the NHL!"

At this point I’m forced to believe Rotenberg has something personal against Michkov. It’s nothing to do with the NHL, the Flyers, his contract, whatever. Its a player/coach relationship at odds.

B/c Roma treated Michkov the same on the u25 national team, which is an entirely different scenario than SKA.

Hopefully SKA keeps losing and Michkov’s talent will force Rotenberg’s hand into playing him.

He's trying to make him a better person! :naughty:

The amount of mental gymnastics folks go through to avoid thinking that Bedard is better than Michkov...

Chris Wideman won the best D in the KHL award and then was just an afterthought on a bottom-feeder team in the NHL!

Get real, please.

Bedard is a superior hockey player not to mention a superior skater compared to Bustkov.

Oh crap. Someone said something about Bedard. Looks like the Bedard-signal may have been activated!!

The last thing this thread needs is the Connor Bedard 101st Keyboardist Brigade arriving. We already have enough problems with Garl.

I have no idea how you managed to connect Chris Wideman to Bedard but you do you...

I wasn't saying that one is better than the other though?
Read what I wrote and respond to that.
I responded to what you wrote.

Yes? Approximately 1% of hockey players reach the NHL. Even less manages to hold down a spot for several seasons. That has nothing to do with the simple fact that every single KHL team would massacre any Canadian junior team in a game. As would every team from the top 10 European leagues. Dominating in a junior league or even worse, in college, doesn't say much when it comes to play in a pro league.

I would actually pay money to see a Calder Cup winning team VS the Gagarin Cup winning team series 4 out of 7.

You can be an AHL star and still never show anything in the NHL. KHL stars usually do pretty good in the NHL. Like Panarin, Kaprizov, Kuzmenko, Gavrikov, Zub. And sometimes not even stars (Mikheyev, Barabanov).

Yeah, the same can be said the other way though... AHL solid players becoming top players in the KHL.

There is also who busted- Shipachyov (sp) for example.

OR he trusts Nikishin out there, but not Michkov? Could be that simple. I don't get why you're getting all bent out of shape here. Michkov will play eventually.. for SKA or on loan.. he's too good not to. Just give it time.

Haven't commented on this thread in awhile but this was the stuff that worried me about drafting a guy that cannot come over. I am on the he's as good as Bedard wagon ftr.

BUT.. any team that drafts him can't control what is happening. That's the problem. I'm positive the Flyers don't want him sitting on a bench and getting 6 minutes total ice time in 4 games. Maybe he gets loaned to a bottom feeder KHL team and maybe he goes to the lower league but the Flyer's have no say. That would suck if you are his NHL owner.

Same with injury, he gets an ACL or shoulder sprain.. do the FLyer's have any control over who does the surgery or if it's rehab?

The answer I was repeatedly given is that he will arrive in the NHL something like Teemu Selanne did and just absolutely kill it after really good KHL development. Kaprizov and Panarin. Imagine being Briere right now, having no say and hoping that is the case?

When Michkov arrives in Philly he will be an instant superstar. As for his current situation, it’s early.

What’s wrong with thinking they are at a similar level?

I’m not saying Michkov is better, but why can’t someone believe they are roughly equivalent players?

Do you think if Bedard was at SKA the situation would magically be better?

Magically?

Bedard is a stronger and faster player, there isn't as much reason to suppose he'd struggle adapting to the pro level.

Edit: Didn't mean to suggest that Michkov has been struggling. But I'll say Bedard seems much more pro ready to me.

Michkov doesn't struggle at the pro level. He did great at this pro level just last season. His coach just isn't playing him.

Michkov has adapted fine. Just look at him in Sochi last year.

The issue is Rotenberg. If he’s limiting the minutes of elite youngsters like Michkov/Demidov, it’s not a leap of faith to believe he’d do the same with Bedard.

Khl isn't a developmental league. His mandate is to ice the best team.

I think they are similar level.

However, after training camp do you think the Hawks will send Bedard to a team that healthy scratches him and gives him 6 minutes in a game?

It’s that’s the case where the KHL is a bad league David Reinbacher is going to be awful considering he plays in a league worse than the KHL.

6 minutes in 4 games won't cut it. if he can't make the team, send him down. roten is too greedy here.

I’m getting strong Babcock/Torts vibes from this guy.

It’s like Rotenberg values his own doctrine over winning games. He has ‘his guys’ and will go with them even if it means falling off a cliff.

Typical of a person who feels the excessive need to prove himself like Rotenberg probably does given his background of nepotism.
