In my opinion, from my viewings, he needs a lot of work for his game to translate at the next level. 40% of his points have come from playing Cape Breton, Baie-Comeau and Moncton.

I'll say he has great anticipation and he's good at placing the puck where he wants when he shoots.

If we look at the past drafts, small players that lack skating and a transition game don't go in the top 2 rounds. Whether they should or not is another discussion, imo.

Btw, I was a big fan of Brayden Point and Bobby Brink in their draft years, but I don't think he's in their category from what I've seen, despite the points he put up. I still wish him the best and to prove me wrong. :)
What? Point and Trocheck ( Brink was considered to be draft at the end of the first round)we're drafted in the third round because everyone said that they we're poor skaters and undersized...I hope some scouts learned they're lessons! Especially this is not a great "offensive" draft, so, they have to take some risks if some teams want offensives players! Not a lot of people believed in Point , so, good for you! I hope Dumais will be better than a Tyler Johnson!

We definitely respect all the opinions, that is the beauty of our sports. Dumais has played 29 games against Charlottetown, St-John, Bathurst and Quebec, 4 of the 10 best teams in the country and in my opinion 4 of the top 5 in the country.

Dumais has played his best games against those teams. Dumais had a 10 games slump in March where he only had 3-4 points in 10 games and he played his best games of the season during this slump where he was all over the ice and was the best player on the ice during this tough team stretch. To me his highlight of the season is during those games where he only had 3-4 points.

On top of this, he is improving each and every game and I have not seen a game where he did not look better than the prior game.

If you read what his GM is saying about him, you will understand what kind of player he is and that has a lot of room to grow.

But I see where you come from and I also wish him the best.

Just being proud of what this Canadian player is doing is so fun to watch.

I like Dumais but he was nowhere to be found in 2 games against Quebec.

He just got a 5 point night after a 4 point night yesterday, this is ridiculous. 104pts on the Year.

32PTS in his last 10 games! He is... NASTY!

MOST POINTS BY A 17 YEAR OLD (QMJHL)
Since 2010
Alexis Lafreniere (Rimouski) 105pts
Jonathan Drouin (Halifax) 105pts
Jonathan Huberdeau (Saint John) 105pts
Nikolaj Ehlers (Halifax) 104pts
Jordan Dumais (Halifax) 104pts

Since 2000
Sidney Crosby x2 ( 135, 168)
Pierre Marc-Bouchard (140)
...Thats it.

Jordan Dumais has 2 more games to become the highest point player in over 22 years at 17 years of age.

It's just weird because he really does not stand out that much when you watch him play but he just racks up the points every game... Lol

I correct your comment « He just got a 5 point night after a 4 point night yesterday and 6 point night on Tuesday”…15 points in the week, I might vote for him for CHL and Q player of the week…ridiculous. And by the way he also backed check :)

Offensive dynamo, is not an average skater, like some are saying,
has a good 2 way game in him, the reason why he plays PK minutes

High hockey IQ, he has the ability to slow down the game in the o-zone
or make a quick rush attack with linemates and make a key pass.

With Dumais it is almost like the game goes into slow motion as you watch him scanning the ice to find the open guy, it is incredible how cerebral this kid is with his game.

He has his shortcomings, unfair or not, but as a Mooseheads fan if it means having him here for his 18 and 19 year old seasons, (maybe 20) and seeing him torch the Q and break the Mooseheads all time record for points then so be it.

I've posted before that his skating is fine, he showed yesterday that he can handle a physical game as Baie Comeau (shocker) started targeting him and he in the third period right about when he scored the GWG he got a hit that was a bit questionable and he just simply smiled at the Baie Comeau player.

His GWG yesterday was a beauty, he made everyone in the rink think he was passing back door and ripped it bardown short side and made the goalie look foolish.

Dumais can skate, he just goes as fast as he has to.

I watch his highlights on his primary assists he can really find the open areas of the ice. He makes a play to sneak into a corner and finds away to have no men on him so he's got all the time in the world to make a play happen, all he's got to do is pass it to his heavy built line-mate Elliot Desnoyers.

If you don't know what I mean he's like Alex Ovechkin but instead of scoring every time Jordan Dumais finds the open ice he makes a play.

He seems so poised too. Must be because he got 125pts with the Selects Hockey Academy U15 team in 2019. Haha

Finished the regular season with 1+3, +2 and 3 shots on goal.

His 17 year old (regular) season :

39 goals
70 assists
109 points
1.60 ppg
+7
182 sog

Led the entire CHL in goals, assists, points, ppg among 2022 draftees

Yet,...he might end up as a 2nd, or 3rd round pick in the 2022 draft.

-----

Next, the play-offs!

That quote from Dumais is fantastic!

The problem is that the native of L'Île-Bizard only appears 72nd in the most recent list of the NHL Central Scouting, which lists the best North American skaters for the next draft. A surprising ranking to say the least, considering his offensive production. But Dumais is not worried about that.

“It’s just the opinion of a few people, he suggests. These are not real recruiters who make these lists. If they were really good recruiters, they would work for an NHL team. These rankings, it's been a long time since they made them, but me, it doesn't bother me too much. At the end of the day, only the draft matters. »

I mean, look at his ppg for one, it matches Conor Bedards ppg.
Dumais is only inch shorter what Bedard (or same height) , who (Bedard) might not grow taller at all.

From all under 18 players in the CHL, Dumais scored the most points.

FYI, he scored 15 more points what Shane Wright did, in 4 more games.
- lets not forget who, what type of talents Wright played with

Hawks have 2 x 1st rounders, wish Hawks was smart and picked him late 1st....

His stance, his hands, when he passes the puck reminds me of Patrick Kane,

His head also, slightly down, not giving away where he passes the puck
and the ability to wait until the last moment, to pass the puck.

Very Patrick Kane like style of passing.

Yeah there’s this feeling when they handle and pass the puck. There’s no way this guy should slip past the first round, no ?

Nice numbers by Dumais but he’s weak and not fast for a guy his size. 29 of his points were scored against the bottom 3 teams in the league (11 games). More of a gamble for teams with multiple 1sts or multiple 2nds.

If he was that, he would not be playing PK minutes. Weak he is not and there is obviously nothing
wrong with his skating, size or no size in question.

Okay so why is he rated in the 2nd round if there are no questions about his strength and skating?

Don’t say size, because Savoie is rated Top-10

Talking about Dumais is like this video:

Is he the best skater? Ha, no.
Is he really strong on his skates? Ha, no.
Is he a strong shooting threat? Ha, no.
Is he really physical? Ha, no.
Is he a decent size for an NHLer? Ha, no.
Is he a strong defensive player? Ha, no.
Is he an elite puckhandler? Ha, no.

Not going to lie he sounds like a bad pick... Just got to watch him man, you wouldn't understand.

He is the last two. Like I have been saying some team is going to get an absolute steal in the mid rounds because NHL teams are still very dumb.
