RW Jordan Dumais - Halifax Mooseheads, QMJHL (2022, 96th, CBJ)

He’s playing really well and doesn’t look slow at all. He was even with Brett Budgell at the Moosehead blue line and went and had him by a step when he scored on a breakaway today. Budgell is pretty quick. Dumais is elusive and his game is a lot like Jesper Kotkaniemi.

10 points in his last 5 games.
81 points in 59 games.

Great hatty in his last game.

- nice effort rebound goal
- 3-way give and go goal, which he started
- nice top corner snipe from difficult angle

16 shots on goal in his last 3 games, super impressive for the playmaking winger

How is his shot? Quick release? Heavy or weak ?

Surprisingly good.

He doesn't use that often due to the fact that he prefers to pass what shoot,
although of late...

Very deceiving shot i would say; at first glance nothing that special,... but...
his shot surprises you a lot, how quickly he can get it off
from his blade and like his 3rd goal showed, i guess score
from tight angles as well :)

Jordan Dumais is once again the player of the week in the Q, after adding 6 goals and 4 assists in 3 games to his already impressive total. At 17 years old, he's now the league's 8th best scorer.

I'm having a hard time trusting any scout who says this guy is not a top 2 round talent in the coming draft.

My thoughts exactly.

Its Alex DeBrincat BS again i fear.... the small size...
- scouting bs about too small and isn't supposedly good enough skater...
or not talented enough....

I have my eye on him with Habs 2nd rounder

Insurance goals are basically the GWG +1, they call it like that because, well, it's insurance if you're getting scored on while leading by 2.
It's not really an important stat, unless you want to consider it the "doesn't sit back with a lead" stat.

Not sure where he lands. Caufield was Taken AT 15. Debrincat in the 2nd round still. I think a team in the 20s OA could very well take a shot at him.
Well….he’s not quite at the level of Caufield, let’s not get carried away. But I do hope the Habs get him in the 2nd.

He is the only player in the minus in the top 10 scorers in the Q with -6.

1 goal and 3 primary apples...but his team lost 5 to 13.....LOL at home

1 goal and 2 assists on the PP when the game was 11 to 2 and Quebec had stopped playing.

And what a hustle on the backcheck. ;)

Seriously he has been good but not in that game despite the 1 goal and 3 assists!

In 16 games last month, he had 30 shots on goal,
in his last 6 games (this month), he has 31 shots on goal...
- i guess, his coach said to him; shoot more!

---------

6 game goal/point streak; 10+6=16 (2.66 ppg)

----------

Halifax has 6 games left, Dumais has 88 points,
so 12 points shy of 100 points.

Cape Breton x 2 (6+8 in 6 games ) = 4 or 5 points
Acadie Bathurst (4+4 in 8 games) = 1 point
Baie-Comeau (0+1 in 1 game) = 1 point
Rimouski (0+3 in 1 game) = 3 points
Moncton (7+8 in 7 games) = 2 points
--------------------------------------------------------

just using vs opponent season avg = 11 or 12 points.
So 100 points in his draft season is doable.

Something like that could cause Dumais to slide into third round

5 assists tonight and the game is only half over. 95 pts
Now 6 assists.

Why does he get no media attention? I get he's 5'9 but his production is better than anyone not named Shane Wright

Cam Russell on Dumais:

There are things that are obvious about him like the hockey sense, the skill and the passing ability but you’ve got to watch him play the entire 200 feet because he plays such a complete game. Most nights he is the first guy on his line to be back on the back-check, he’s one of the best wingers we have on the wall at making the right decision with the puck under pressure. Nine times out of ten he makes the right play and breaks the puck out cleanly.

Other times some scouts will ask about his skating and my response to that is to watch him closely. He’s one of the fastest players on our team. He’s not out there skating 100 miles per hour in every direction and wasting energy, he skates at the right times and will beat a lot of players with his quickness and his top-end speed.
