The thing is that this gets said about alot of small great junior superstars of which very few become even good NHL regulars for a long time never mind stars.

I always root for every prospect but most of them don't make it.
Sure, but the Jackets haven’t had that guy with elite scoring in Jrs often. PLD hit, Abramov did not

Abramov was a floater and Trenin did all the work. Watching their games it was obvious to me anyway that Trenin was the guy who could make it. I really like that Chinakhov kid.

I am looking forward to Jordan making those that passed on him regret that decision
I think the scouts did their jobs quite well. Small offensive wizard with an awkward stride maybe due to the knee injury before he made his Q league debut. Dumais gets all the credit in the world for me. Hope he turns into the next Patty Kane. That’s who I always compared him to.

I made the comment he looked like a less dynamic skating Gaudreau last night on the CBJ board. Patience, vision, tries to bait defenders into attacking him and then finding the open man.
I also pretty much said what George did too about even on nights he doesnt look his absolute best he is still capable of popping up on the scoresheet.

Abramov was really good… He was a kind of Samsonov… I remenber that there’s a lot of people who sayed that he was the Real deal…It’s hard to predict for a smaller player …

Do Jackets fans think he might play in the NHL next season?

He’s leading the Q in points by 9 this season. How could he return to the Q next season if this continues?

If we’re being realistic, the closest parallel available is Simon Gamache. Small skilled guy, stellar, even legendary career in the Q, then some outstanding AHL seasons and a lengthy productive career in Europe. It would be amazing if Dumais can buck the trend and be that very unusual undersized Q forward who makes a significant splash in the NHL. I’m rooting for him big time but I’m counting on nothing.

Dumais is Gamache because he's small? This is pretty thin reasoning.

Marchand, Garland, Marchessault were small and did well in the Q too. Then again, like others are saying, Abramov looked great…

Abramov always looked small and weak to me. He was outstanding at 16, but after that everyone kind of grew and got stronger and he stayed the same.

I could be wrong but Dumais seems gutsier to me. We'll see.

The big difference between Marchand Garland and Marchessault and guys like Abramov Dumais and Gamanche is intensity. The guys that make it have that edge to their game that they’ll go around you or through you. Dumais doesn’t have that in his game YET. He needs to get stronger to be next level pro. I figure three years minimum before seeing NHL ice

I think that's the basic understanding that most teams came to last year when he fell to the third round.

I'm not sure it is right. Superficially he doesn't seem to have a high work rate but he looks that way while winning puck battles and fighting his way to the net. Is it perhaps because he makes it look too easy?

From the Wheeler piece you can gather that Dumais actually gets top measurements for strength and speed, ahead of NHLers even in some categories. That's not to say that motor couldn't be an issue down the road.

I honestly think he has a lot of Garland in his game. Dumais is absolutely not a perimeter player at the junior level right now, he is in the battle and gets to the front of the net with regularity. He likely would physically just not be able to get there at the pro level right now, that isn't a lack of will to do it though. I really fail to see how Dumais is more similar to the Abramovs and Gamanche's then he is Marchand or Garland though. Abramov specifically was clearly just out skilling the entire league and didn't need to really work. To me it is a lazy comparison.

I can see the Garland comparison however I wasn’t comparing him to Gamache and Abramov. I was replying to those that were. As I said in prior posts Abramov was a floater that relied on Trenin to do all the hard work. Gamanche was a speed merchant. Unlike Dumais who uses change of speed. My comparison for Dumais to Patty Kane still holds water. If those that actually watch the games can’t see that then I don’t know what they are looking at.

In his last 88 games in the Q, Jordan has almost 160 points...

for example, one Connor Bedard
in his last 85 games, 146 points..

different league different opponents,
but no matter how you put it, the other having a higher ppg and that is not the one who is going first overall.

Also, Jordan in his last 88 games has played with very young players while being himself 17 and 18 year old, one gotta also remember Halifax was the youngest team in the Q last season and if not the youmgest this season, one of.

also... Dumais 2022 draft pick, Bedard 2023 draft pick, Halifax is a winning team, Pats are not.

Now im not dissing Bedard, dude is crazy
good, insane player but, Dumais ain't half bad himself either.
