One thing to consider is how dynamic Pulju is, more than Laine. His shot doesn't have to be as good.

I hear this term tossed around here or there describing players but I am not certain of what it means in terms of a hockey player. I know what the word dynamic means but not sure how it applies to say Pulju, does he progress the game of hockey in a way? I mean McDavid is a player I'd label as dynamic, he truly pushes the boundaries of what a hockey player can do. Are you maybe just using the word to say that Pulju's game has more facets to it? If so I don't believe his game more faceted than Laine's, just a different style of play.

Dynamic means constant change so in hockey it's usually referred when player is fast and can suddenly burst out and score a goal. The best example of dynamic player is probably Pavel Bure.

Wheeler has never possessed a good shot, Wheeler is speed and puck protection. It's very hard to stop a hard charging Wheeler but he's not great with shooting. I believe Pulj will surpass Wheeler in goal scoring.

Also, Wheeler is unusual in that he peaked with point production 9 seasons into his NHL career (possibly even later depending on how his game declines). I have a feeling Pulj is going to kill it early in his career like most highly touted prospects do. Wheeler played college until he was 22.

Pulju's style of play is different, by dynamic I mean skating power, versatility. He is better at generating assists. I don't think Pulju is better, just different. Now many seem to think that you need an A+ shot to be a top prospect.

Laine being so phenomenally good and having adapted surprisingly fast for a European raised player is what kind of makes Pulju seem less good because they're compared so directly and Pulju has more to figure out.

They are different kind of prospects. There's a reason Laine almost made it to #1 spot and just came out flying in the NHL. Pulj isn't quite that talent level. He will figure it out though. I have been trying to come up with a similar prospect...like Virtanen if he was good in any way.

Another goal, 2+3 in 5 games.
1 timer from the left side.

Has drawn 2-3 penalties tonight, looks tough to stop near boards.
Best player on the team, he can take over shifts.

Oilers got lucky in getting him. He just needs a little seasoning like Draisaitl did.

personally i thought and still think he is NHL ready and has been the whole time. You got to remember he was coming off an surgery at seasons start and then got injured slightly again. Ofcourse the handling of him probably made his confidence go to zero but you still got to keep in mind that mcdavids first career hattrick came with pulju as his winger :)

With that said my subjective opinion may very well be faulty and wrong.

AHL or NHL at this point of time doesn't matter that much. But if he isn't on the starting line up when the Oilers play the first game next season, I'm going to worry.

I wouldn't even worry then.

Draisaitl was sent down to juniors halfway through his rookie year, and last season he didn't make the Oilers opening night roster. They made him earn it (for once). Look at the result.

That shot is filthy. I see a bit of Ovechkin in his game

Hell have a nice career receiving one timers on the pp from mcdavid or draisaitl

Would you trade pulju for josi ?

Wouldn't think twice as a Oil fan. Josi would turn the Oil into an instant cup contender. Zero reason why the Preds do it though and Josi is worth a lot more than JP. With his contract and production I'd argue he's probably top 10 in value for the whole league.

So I certainly didn't see the entire game but the replay shows that he scores a meaningless power play goal in a 6-3 loss and somehow he's taking over shifts. He's also been a minus player in 3 of the games he has played. I believe he's going to be a good player but the hype over this guy is beyond amazing.

Keep in mind that guys who make those comments have probably watched those games where he was dominant. I don't see how much more effectively he could play without being a clear choice for NHL. He has his weaknesses still but I think yesterday alone there were like 3 breakaway chances for him, countless takeaways and did he draw like 2 or 3 penalties?

And that was a game where got left pointless for the first time since being demoted to AHL.

I've watched the 1st 5 games, and that comment goes to that 5 game sample size.
What is so crazy about saying he has dominated in some of the shifts, done what he has wanted?

That meaningless goal made the game 5-3 in the 3rd with time left on the clock, he drew 5 penalties this weekend because he isn't easy to stop.
There hasn't even been hype for him after the draft, no one really talks about him. But I'm happy you're happy with Dupois.

San Joses crew said in their game vs Condors that Pulju was the best player for Condors, I'm sure they were bias.

Pulju needs to marinate well down in AHL ..
Should only be called up when he is fully adjustef and scoring at will.
