He has a hard shot but yeah comparing it to Laine's or even Matthews's is too much IMO.

Puljujärvi frequently fans on his shot, fans or whiffs on one timers, has mediocre aim etc. When it works it looks like a lazer aimed right at the top corner or whatever but there's a reason he's only scored 2 goals in professional NA leagues so far.

That said, he's been doing well in AHL so far so hopefully he has a nice end to the season there.

He was awesome with McDavid in the like 3 or 4 games they were linemates if you actually followed the team.

If he really was that "awesome" he would continue in that role. Or their coach have seen lack of chemistry in training.

I still shudder to think what McDavid and Laine would do together. McDavid and Pulj will be good though. McDavid is doing well with the big bodies wingers, but he really needs one that can keep up with footspeed and hands, Pulj can be that guy.

It isn't all that black and white, "Asiantuntija." He probably didn't want to play the 18 year old rookie 18 mins a game constantly out of the gate. They were pretty awesome together.

Yeah prior to draft I was saying if Oilers got Laine itd be like Pittsburgh getting Ovechkin AND Crosby back in the day. HF has pondered about uniting those 2 for 10 years now. Puljujarvi will also be a great fit as he has the speed to keep up with McDavid. He also appears to have a great/improving shot to finish McDavids passes and will have the 2 way/puck possession ability to hold the puck for McDavid and get it back to him

Still shocked he fell in the draft. One of best days ever

I would love to hear bit more insightful approach with Bakersfield's play on for example but if people are not familiar with this kind of ice hockey talk to begin I do not see how they come up with so easily without an example.

JP ripping it up in the AHL, just like in the WJC but its probably all because linemates

I am sure he is kind of expected and given quite a chance to contribute given that Puljujärvi is about the priority one prospect for the organization. Personally I did not find much wrong with his line-mates as, now again in a long time club team environment, Puljujärvi should be carrying his team, not there other way around.

Bakersfield this season has couple strong over ppg players unlike for example defending champions Cleveland which continues to be more of a collective effort, at least until play-off scenery. Have Bakersfield got any chance at play-offs?

Not sure, they both were so non-existent, it was hard to tell. I know Puju took a penalty which lead to Columbus's GW goal, so I greatly enjoyed watching him play and helping us win.

They didn't, there's good 15 years of time watching them together dominate the league.
Tulipunaruusu is such a huge Pulju fan so it's going to be nice to see them score points, I'm sure Tuli will enjoy.

Again he was ppg with McDavid, McDavid scored his 1st career hattrick with Pulju assisting all of the goals, didn't get credit for one of the goals thanks to Kling though.
He made several strong defensive plays during those games and gave Lucic& Mcdavid 2on1's because of them.

But they lost to Ari& Toronto in a row and Todds answer was to bench Pulju for 3 games, just because and that's when his decline started.
Before that Todd said Pulju was creating as many chances as anyone on the roster.

I believe Puljujärvi play well in those games but i think there was some issues at the practice because only idiot coach doesn't give them other chance without good reason.

He's gonna be amazing player and i expect him grow at least to Valtteri Filppula level. Some guys maybe take this as a argument against Puljujärvi but Filppula has been one of Finland best players for years.

They lost to Ari& Toronto with bad performances. Todd decided to change lines and moved the youngest player in the league instead of a vet. That's a pretty normal move even if it's the wrong one. Vets have different rights.

I think it's safe to say that he will be better than Filppula.

I'd think they'd expect one of the most hyped Finnish players in recent memory drafted 4th overall to be significantly better than Filppula.

I also expect him to be better player that's why i said at least . But i'm not disappointed if he doesn't raise to higher level. Filppula has been one of our best players for years,he doesn't score that much points but he is and will be always huge addition to our national team because hes overall game is so good. Always goes there with huge attitude and i can safely say that he was our teams best player at World Cup. IMO he is very underrated player who should earn more respect.

AHL or NHL at this point of time doesn't matter that much. But if he isn't on the starting line up when the Oilers play the first game next season, I'm going to worry.

One thing to consider is how dynamic Pulju is, more than Laine. His shot doesn't have to be as good.
