That link is for career PPG in the Q, not single season. Garland is not in the top 10 for either career PPG or single season PPG.

if our 5th round pick becomes at minimum an AHL dominant player that can help younger players mature offensively, and possibly raise their values on a trading block than I'm more then happy, while at best case scenario becomes a nathan gerbe or tyler ennis, thats great as well

and corey locke was never really given any kind of a chance, he might have done better then he ended up doing if he was given one

Oops thanks for correcting me on that, i can't find a list for the season point ppg records but I looked back in the recent history of the league and the closest ppg avg to Garlands came in Drouins draft +1 year and he 'only' had a 2.1 ppg.

Amazing season for Garland so far. Shocked that he is a bubble player for USA wjc team, but have only watched a handful of games of his.

Garland is everything that most people think Bracco is. If the battle for a roster spot comes down to those two, to not take Garland would be absurd. He's an instant powerplay.

They are going to show a bit of preference to guys from the USNDP who they know can fit into the system the plan on implementing. But Garland has to get an invite to the camp.

With Wilson as the head coach he is going to go with who he thinks can help him win. I don't think he will show favoritism to one system over the other.

Garland may very well be a better choice than Bracco this year.

Than and then are always tough :sarcasm: that's not a bad way of looking at it though, as a fifth round pick it's a low risk, high reward type thing. Stakes aren't too high.

66 points so far. 47 assists.. Its not like he is a puck hog. I think if the Yotes allow him to play in the ahl they will work on his defensive game.

I really hope they give him a shot at the wrold juniors. I would like to see him play against the top players .

I dont know too much about the qmjl , but is it considered a lower tier than OHl or whl?

How would people rate the 3 leagues?

People have always said the Q was an easier to league to score in with anecdotal evidence, but I don't really know about that. I know their goalies face a ton of frequency, and generally aren't very talented for whatever reason, but the scoring totals generally end up looking like the other two major junior leagues. Competition might be slightly less intimidating in the Q, but it's still high level junior hockey. They all use the same basic formula. I find it hard to dismiss high quantity scoring in any of them.

I like the Arizona destination for Garland. They're not afraid to give undersized scorers big roles in their minor league squads. I remember Briere being one of the trailblazers for them regarding getting production out of players that other people considered too small. They've taken chances on guys like Andy Miele and Brendan Shinnimin as well who were also known as tremendous scorers in their respective leagues. Garland should step immediately into some scoring situations with Portland soon. Whatever the reason, a guy that isn't an overage player putting up these kind of measurables says something about him as a player. His point totals this year project to something absurd like 150 points over a full season. You can't ignore that. Scoring like 275 points over 2 junior seasons is impressive no matter what.

The Coyotes are with Springfield now. He should get a contract.

Not invited to US world jr camp

Best player in the QMJHL by a decent margin and not invited to team USA :help:

If I had to guess I would say the top 6 (top 3) forwards score more in the Q relative to top 6 forwards in OHL/WHL because the depth is inferior in the QMJHL imo. Scoring may be close to constant across all 3 leagues, but a high end player in the Q would score more in that league than the other 2 but totals are similar because the 3rd/4th line would score less. No data to back this up, just a hypothesis.

Yeah that's pretty insane, this guy dominates and I mean absolutely dominates junior aged competition and team USA won't even invite him?

Like do they know the tournament is against the type of players he makes look silly?

It's incredible. They had some bone headed snubs last year, too. Look how that team did.

This guy is far better in the Q this season than Dubois, Gauthier, or Beauvilier are and they are all invited to Canada's camp.

Really have to scratch your head on this one. USA should know better that size isn't nearly as big a factor at this tournament, when they won in 2013 Gaudreau lit it up.

Gotta feel for the kid. Does everything in his power to overcome adversity due to his size and becomes one of the best junior hockey player in the world but gets snubbed 2 years in a row because he plays in the Q. It's quite sad. Makes me wonder if he played for the Winterhawks, Firebirds, Thunderbird, Otters or any other American CHL franchise would make a difference because he deserves an invite just as much as DeBrincat.
