Looks like we're gonna see him at WJC U18. In playoffs I think so it could be only one game, depends on how tomorrow's game against Sweden goes. If Russia wins they have chance for semis, if not then I guess their chances against Canada/Finland are next to zero.
Is there a free spot in the roster?
Not sure, but I hope. More interesting question, does he play on the same side as Svechnikov? I wouldn't mind to see them on the same line.
Can't they just replace someone, like Lobaonov and Kuznetsov? Is there a free spot in the roster?
Abramov and Svechnikov are both RW. Looks like we won't be short on RW in the future with Tarasenko, Kucherov, these guys and Kostin maybe. Not sure, but I hope. More interesting question, does he play on the same side as Svechnikov? I wouldn't mind to see them on the same line.

No. once you name your 3 goalies and 20 skaters, that's your team. Unless there are different rules for U18 that I am not aware of...
Well, then it's a shame they didn't save a spot for Abramov, he could be a huge help in QF.
So Finland had a free spot for Pulju? I thought their roster was full.
he'd have been there, despite him taking a big dump on the nt by going to na.If the original u18 team was going, Abramov would likely not have been there anyways. Regardless, he showed his stuff to the scouts this past season.
Everything Vitalii Abramov does is electrifying. The diminutive Russian wing is not a one-trick pony – he can beat you with speed, deception, passing and/or a deadly accurate shot. Each asset is a cog in a wheel, relying on other skills to combine for an explosive on-ice tour-de-force. The style of play in the Quebec League (among others) is conducive to undersized finesse forwards, and Abramov is one of its best at exploiting it.

Would have been nice to see him at the U18's because he wasn't invited to play in the CHL Super Series or the WJC. Funny how Russia dissed him, then practically begged him to play for the National Team while the Olympiques were in the playoffs.
We've always liked this kid. Reminds me of Sergei Samsonov in that it doesnt matter how big the opponents are...he will find a way to make plays, and quality ones at that.
How was Abramov 'dissed'? He was an undersized double-underager for the WJC. He never had a realistic chance of making the team, especially under Bragin. In fact no 1998s did...that includes Rubtsov and Sergachyov. But all those guys will be counted on in future WJC.
He was dissed for the Super Series. If you don't want to believe that, than I don't know what else to say.
C'mon, take off the conspiracy theory hat.
Bragin prefers older players; that's an established fact. Like I said, Rubtsov and Sergachyov werent in the mix either.
If Abramov was intentionally 'dissed' by the evil Russian hockey authorities, so was every talented underager that Bragin has omitted over the years in favor of more physically mature players.....and that's a lot of talented guys.

Any concerns with his speed? He didn't seem like an overly fast player but I haven't seen much.
Not that it matters, but I like interesting characters and he's one of the funniest kids in the draft. He's always smiling and has this childlike wonder to him
