Not that it matters, but I like interesting characters and he's one of the funniest kids in the draft. He's always smiling and has this childlike wonder to him. Him and Parsons (I hope he never changes how he is interviewed) are real characters and standouts in that department and I think NHL fanbases are going to love these guys--sort of like how Scherbak stole the hearts of fans after that tsn interview post draft.

That's how I feel about Hertl. Always filled with joy, and you honestly never see him without a smile on his face. He is still very much a child at heart.

When Abramov turn from underrated prospect into NHL star like Kucherov and Panarin, it'll be another good laugh of fans of the team, that picked him, on fans of teams, that ignored him.

Live in the Ottawa area, was not impressed with him in the playoffs. Not that great of a skater for a small player.

How much of that is actually skating and how much of it is being warn out for playing that long of a season for the 1st time. I remember having similar thoughts with Bjorkstrand when I saw him at the Memorial Cup a few years back

Hard to say but he was invisible I only saw him in 2 games but was disappointed. I saw him in 3 other regular season games he only really stood out in one of them.

He has skill but his stride was the thing that got me didnt look powerful. I could be wrong of course but I was excited to see what he can do maybe my expectations were too high.

Yeah its tough to tell in a short sample but at the same time if youve seen someone you have to base those viewings in your opinions. He is young and was the offensive leader on his team its exciting but I dont really have many viewings to form my own opinion

he was very good in today's CBJ prospect scrimmages, up there with Milano and Dubois for best players on the ice

Yeah, but it isn't surprising. Everyone knows he can dominate against kids and prospects. His draft position is because it's unknown how well his game will translate to playing against grown men in a different style of hockey.

Yeah, they always doubt. And then some teams get great players in late rounds or without any picks at all.

No, it's not. He showed nothing at Superseries. He may be quite good and even great in Q but it is not enough to make national team.
I've got a hard time believing that a player like Tyanulin is so much better than Abramov that it isn't even worth the time inviting Abramov to camp :shakehead

I'm not going to pretend I know anything about the Russians u20 camp invitees but I find it seriously hard to believe he isnt better than the majority of those guys. As for the whole Superseries tournament, arent those in the Summer after the season? I dont actually know but if they were, fatigue could play a factor into his poor performance, that, or possibly the coach and system? I dont know, we all know the politics that go on with player selections, there are a ton of factors besides "he's just not good enough" dude is absolutely murdering the Q.
Edit: did some searching and it seems like Abramov didnt make the team because he's younger than other guys but no doubt could be a big mistake.

Actually Korostelev - Alexeev- Tyanulin line was Russia's best line in the first game against OHL.

The tournament was held in the beginig of November. It's called "CIBC Canada Russia Series". It was just "Canada Russia superseries" couple of years ago but changed its title later. Abramov looked really bad there. And he also showed nothing special in Q at that moment.

That's relatively reassuring actually, if he was poor in the tournament and great in the Q one could say he was just dominating a bad league. He seems to have found his game lately, I'm sure we'll see him next year when he is 19, that's seems to be Bragin's criteria.

Funny you should say that, I've seen both of those players extensively this year as they both play on teams with Avs prospects that I watch. Although they are in the same realm of smaller skilled forwards that have put up good numbers in their leagues I can actually believe it. Although Tyanulin might not be a rock defensively he's a very good playmaker and it's that Abramov's game right now is devoid of anything but selfish hero hockey. I'm not trying to come here and bash the kid. But he's playing under a system and coach right now that lets him do whatever he wants and that's hog the puck and turn it over if he can't make it through three guys. I saw him a bit last year and I did not get that sense from him so I do at least partially blame it on his situation at the moment. I wouldn't say he's dominating the league either. Yeah he's skilled enough that his act works eventually and had a good week or so to push his numbers up but he has a long way to go to dominate that league.
