Well this was after his 6 points in 2 games at the start of the year.
Guess he liked his off-season training

Glad to hear. Interested on what he'll do at the WJC, he will probably be the USA's most important player along with Keller, Brown and potentially Tkachuk. TSN occasionally picked up college hockey last year, so I hope they pick up some of his games.

was in the top 6 last WJC and didn't look good

the whole team looked bad

not stylistically the same but might produce similarly to Kyle Okposo

Yeah I think Brown, Jones, Roslovic and Keller will have bigger impact at the WJC than Boeser.

This year he's 19 with a year of experience and it is on big ice. I would think he will be a key scorer for them. Brown, Jones and Keller are still only 18. I'm not even sure if Jones is a lock to be on the team (was cut at the summer camp but has had a great start).

I do hope he improves his acceleration.

Just look at Jakob Silfverberg. He's got good agility, good balance, and destroyed the SEL as a 21 year old. But in the NHL he can't get any separation to get off his shot which is arguably one of the best in the NHL. So he's basically been regulated to being a middle 6 player.

And then look at filip forsberg who is not as fast but is tearing it up with his shot, every case and every players IQ and how they use those tools is different.

Boeser isn't just a sniper though. He is so damn smart and is a really good passer as well. Overall he is just a high IQ player.

I hope I don't get ripped for this comparison, but he reminds me of a right handed Markus Naslund. Naslund's defining trait was his shot and his wrister was probably the best in the league in his day and because of that, his passing game got overlooked. MN had two season of at least 50 assists and two more with 47 and 49 assists. Like Boeser, Naslund also wasn't some blazing fast skater. He was decent, but not amazing.

I hate that I have to say this but it's HF so I do: Im not saying Boeser will reach the levels Naslund did. Could he? Yeah I think the potential is there, he's only 19. I don't see why anyone would cap a 19 year old prospect's potential especially one as talented as Boeser. With that being said it's extremely unlikely he reaches those heights, but I think a projection as a 30-30 player isn't unrealistic at this point.

Man this kid better pan out for us .... I'm loving his numbers, but after him our cupboards are pretty empty. I've only really seen clips from his games, anyone actually watch a whole UND game? How's his skating this year compared to the end of last year? I know his shot is lights out, but what about his positioning and defensive play. Any NHL comparisons? I've seen everything from Patrick Sharp, to Bobby Ryan, and now Markus Naslund.

Thanks in advance.

- His skating is better but he could use some work on his first few strides before he plays in the NHL (skating coach). Speed isn't a weakness.
- Defensive play is good, always works hard and I'm pretty sure he's on the PK this year or has played there
- They trust him with the game on the line to take the draw as a winger
- He models his game after TJ Oshie, but I've seen a Tyler Toffoli comparison as well.
- He could be more physical

For anyone who has watched North Dakota this year how do Boeser and Jost compare in terms of being an NHL prospect. Obviously Boeser is a year ahead of Jost but how do they compare.

I have only had the chance to see them live once when they played each other at the USA-CAN showcase in Plymouth MI

It's hard to isolate them. Jost is doing great for a freshman with 7 points in 5 games, but how many of those assists are because of Boeser? How many points would he have if he wasn't playing with the McDavid of the NCAA on his wing?
Im not sure. but Jost is definitely an amazing hockey player in his own right.

If Boeser keeps this up, he has a chance to be the highest scoring NCAA forward in the past decade this season. Beating Gaudreau, Parise, Vanek, Toews, Pavelski, etc. etc. etc.

Oh ffs...

Honestly I thought this kid was going to be a bust in the 2015 draft and didn't want the Leafs to use their 24th pick to go anywhere near this kid but holy man is he ripping it up. Very likely that the Canucks hit a huge homerun with this pick.

Broke the UND scoring records of both Parise and Toews as a freshman....not bad company for guy who got drafted well into the back half of the first round.:handclap:

I think I remember hearing when Gaudreau had 80 points that the highest point total since the 90's was actually Peter Sejna with 83 or something

Pretty amazing that he's actually at a goal a game pace since sometime in the middle of last season. 28 goals in his last 28 games.

I've rarely seen him play except for highlight videos and those always make a guy look better than a warts-and-all perspective. But clearly he can produce offensively and it's not as though he's just a shooter, he's got other abilities.

Our first-line, 30-goal winger in a few years? It seems like a legit possibility. :yo:

Why wouldn't you just say the best player in the country lol. I'm so pumped, my nephew was the McDavid of mites his first year.

Boeser has gotten a point in 28 of his last 32 games, in those games he has 65 points (28-37-65). Over 2ppg, pretty impressive for his freshman/sophmore season.

Ok real talk time. Although this kid has gotten better and better as he plays, he didn't have just a random "jump" in talent from his draft to now... He started off in the NCAA last year with a hattrick and was PPG.

So where did the scouts go wrong? How come he was ranked so low at the 2015 draft?

He wasn't scoring like this in the USHL. Although it seems like a lot of underrated guys from the USHL get a big bump in scoring when jumping up to the NCAA (other Canuck picks Gaudette and Lockwood also doing very well despite mediocre USHL numbers).

Something about the USHL being a lower scoring league maybe. Might be buried on their teams but given bigger role in college?
