Boeser's performance at the WJC's is the only thing holding me back from hopping on the hype train. He was given all the opportunity to succeed when given the chance to play with Matthews and Tkachuk but he couldn't keep up. If people can be doubtful about Tkachuk's success in the NHL when he put up 11pts in 10 games but Boeser only put up 3 than I'm still holding some scepticism on just how much impact Boeser will have. If he can prove he can keep up with the elite this year and excel than I'll be a believer.

Anton Rodin

Jordan Schroeder (greatest American ever at the world juniors of all time).

Marc Anthony Stewart.

I agree with you that his WJC performance last year wasn't what was expected... I do fully expect him to have an awesome WJC this year. But as mentioned by others, the sample size is an issue in a tournament like this. Hodgson has been mentioned, but another example is the American team from 09-10 where Jerry D'Amigo, Danny Kristo and Jordan Schroeder put up way more points than Tyler Johnson. Guess we'll see if Boeser can put the WJC feather in his cap this year.

Hodgson 2.0

What's the similarity? Hodgson's bad back? His stumpy legs and tiny stride? A lousy work ethic combined with a desire to fast-track his NHL career for a huge payday? A complete unwillingness to play on the defensive side of the ice?

I'm dying to hear your expert insights on both players that you've obviously seen so much of.

It's pretty obvious that he's a hater. No need to be salty about Boeser's talent. We're having a good discussion here.

I think Boeser is being underestimated here. Based on his style of play and his skill set, I think he can be a perennial 30-goal scorer.

Even professional analysts such as Craig Button and Pierre McGuire have projected him to be an elite player. Button ranked Boeser ninth overall in his final 2015 NHL Draft rankings; Pierre McGuire has stated that he believes Boeser would have been a Top 5 pick had he been a 2016 Draft prospect. In either case, that is a first-line forward.

Craig Button: ""Not just one of the best goal scorers in this draft, one of the best goal scorers in several drafts."
Button expands on this in the above radio interview, stating that Brock has a rare ability to quickly set his hands in the right position to shoot the puck; he needs less time than most others to position his body to shoot the puck. He is also a hard competitor who can score in many different ways and remain poised amidst adversity. He has an elite goal-scoring skill set, and also possesses a very strong, consistent work ethic -- he doesn't give up even when the score is out of reach.

...

1. Brock Boeser, North Dakota (VAN) – He may not have Nick Schmaltz, but Boeser is instant offense on his own (and Tyson Jost is a pretty good replacement).

2. Clayton Keller, Boston U (ARI) – Dynamic and creative, Keller leads an incredible freshman class for the Terriers.

3. Tyson Jost, North Dakota (COL) – Powerful and skilled, he’ll make an immediate impact in Grand Forks.

4. Colin White, Boston College (OTT) – Incredible two-way center will be counted on heavily by Eagles, who lost a good chunk of talent early.

5. Ryan Poehling, St. Cloud State (2017) – Powerful center is a rare true freshman for the Huskies. Gets to play with his older brothers, though.

What do you guys think his potential in the NHL is and how well his game will translate?

1st and 2nd line tweener imo. Elite shot and offensive instincts but his lack of size and slow acceleration will prevent him from living up to the lofty expectations that many fans have of him. Will be a great player but not an elite 1st liner like many have him pegged to be.

Lack of size? 6'1 and over 190 lbs as a 19 year old. Yeah he's way too small.

Looks like a top line player at this point in his development. Really need to see him at the NHL level before you can form a more definitive opinion though which is the case for pretty much every one of the top prospects.

Not even close. Boeser is the real deal.
