It's not really right to assume that brothers would have similar trajectories. I seriously doubt there's anything to back that up either in sports or in general. Still, like you said, William has been clearly the better player at every stage up until arguably their draft seasons. He's the better prospect to me. William had a crazy draft year where he was bouncing all over between two Allvenskan (second-tier pro) teams and MODO, so it's tough to judge. When with MODO that year he didn't get much ice time.

Agreed. And it's no slight to Alex to say he's the lesser of the two

Nylander invited to Sweden National Junior Team Selection Camp

Dec 07, 2015 - 11:52 EST

Draft eligible Mississauga Steelheads winger Alexander Nylander has been invited to Sweden's National Junior Team Selection Camp.

The seventeen year-old is one of 26 players competing for a chance to represent Sweden at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Helsinki, Finland. Sweden's camp roster includes 12 returning players from last year's fourth place finish in Toronto and Montreal.

Nylander currently leads all OHL rookies in scoring with 21 goals 26 assists and 47 points in 31 contests and was named the OHL's Rookie of the Month in both October and November.

Well deserved.

Quick question - is Alex purely a right winger, or can he move between either wing and/or centre?

He can play on either wing. He has the speed to play either wing at the pro-level as well.

I see him best as a left-wing though.

Alex plays Left Wing for the Steelheads, though I think I saw him line up on the Right a few times yesterday.

I think he will play both sides. But you bring up a great point. Which side will he be better off at?

It may be left wing. He scores a lot of goals on his off wing. If people are not aware, his shot looks like an elite weapon. His 2nd goal yesterday was a snipe not many players can do. In the NHL where teams are starved for goals. A finisher that can play 200 ft game with high hockey IQ is an immense asset.

I really think Nylanders 200 ft game is being exaggerated here. Along with his physical play which was mentioned previously in this thread.

Here is Nylander's 2nd goal from yesterday. An Impressive snipe! He put a dent in the net. Puck was in and out before you could count 1. Kid can shoot the puck.

At the 14 mins mark of video.

I'm not sure I want him in the draft. I mean, his passing skill is great but fluky, I'd rather go after a strong possesion winger with good finishing abilities than him.

This WJC is big for him! He is one of those players on the bubble of draft early/mid round 1st. I really think his brother is going to make sure he has a breakout tourney to get him noticed. I'm sure Shanny will be watching.

With his pedigree, raw tools and OHL production, I'd say he's starting to cement himself as a top 10 guy. A huge tournament could lead to him challenging the 3 wingers ahead of him right now.

He has two goals against Denmark atm.

Thanks for sharing. Alex Nylander and Clayton Keller are my 2 favorite prospects I am looking fwd to watching this Christmas.

I am not surprised, I have been shouting Alexander Nylander all year. He's an ascending terrific prospect.

Hope the yotes can snag him with one of our 1st rounders. We need help on D more, but a talented rh shooting forward would be nice too.

With Strome and Dvorak at Center feeding wingers, if Arizona snagged Alex. I would subscribe to watch some Coyotes games. Would be a fun team to watch.

Kids a traitor to team Canada. He was born in Canada! why is he playing for the Swedes??!!!

j/k

Same with William :P.

I really really hope the Leafs draft this kid. Bothers are really close too. Interested to see if they play together at the WJC.
