They never played in comparable situations number-wise at the same age.

Alex had 40 points in 42 games in the Swedish junior league last season as a 16 year old, which is a solid output for a potential high pick. But William had 43 points in 27 games at the same age, in the same league.
Watching them play I'd have to say William is pumping his bro's tires here, but Alex looks like a blue chip prospect nonetheless

Maybe you should go back to see where Bob Mckenzie ranked William the year before his draft.

I'm not arguing Alex isn't a great prospect or will be great, but Will has quite literally been better than him in every single comparable league they played in.

Not saying Alex won't be better but he'll have to do a lot because he's not the playmaker his brother is and the goal scoring is similar.

There is nothing to indicate the he is a better finisher than William. William has been a better goal scorer than him at every level.

Worth noting these posts after William's comments on his brother recently. Not as improbable as when you replied to my post here:http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showpost.php?p=108739057&postcount=140 that Alexander potentially may be a better player one day.

Alex definitely has a better shot. He plays the point on the PP and has an absolute cannon. William could never shoot the puck like that. Alex is also a little bigger and a little more physically engaged, which is important when evaluating his ability to produce offense on the NHL.

wasn't alex doing a ridiculous deke against canada at ivan hlinka?

I highly doubt that.

Oh my lord. This is when even discussion of hockey forums go too far.

"Hey guys, let's take this random quote in a laid-back interview and break it down step by step!!"

Jeez

I have seen Alex play a lot. There isnt as much hype as William due to the fact that William stayed in SEL and put up great numbets while Alex choose to play Canadian Junior Hockey.

Scored 2 beautiful goals last night. Both with that terrific shot of his. One wrister and one one-timer. This kid is a stud prospect.

This kid's hockey IQ and offensive skills are off the charts.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I take him over Tkatchuk at this point. Nylander's just so dynamic.

Sounds like Alex's stock is really rising. The more I hear about him the more I'd love for the Leafs to draft him. Having both Nylanders would be incredible.

That game against Niagara was the best I've seen him play so far. He's so skilled with the puck, never seen a team try to get 1 player the puck as much as Mississauga does.

Give him the puck and get into some open space and he will find you anywhere on the ice.

Watched him live last night and the thing that surprised me was that he didn't seem small at all. Have read I assume here on HF that he is a small winger and while he was slight of frame his height looked decent. He has got to be a true six footer anyway.

Yeah, he's listed as 6'0 and 172lbs on most sites it seems. Not big, not small.

Most sites have him as you've described. I remember seeing him listed up to 6'1 180 on one. At that size, with his speed and skill he's going to be a monster.

Which is what I suggested weeks ago, but some posters objected I even suggested this. I think Alexander could be very well on his way of being the better of the Nylander brothers.

For a rookie in the OHL. His numbers are becoming very impressive.

His shot is already NHL caliber, he IQ is abundant. He's also got more size. To me he projects well into a top 6 fwd on a good team in the NHL.

I've been singing his praises for a month now.

Who do you like more, Mcleod or Nylander?

Right now, Nylander.

It's too early to make a definitive judgment. Mcleod may still have some growth in his game that will put him right there with Nylander.

Nylander to me can finish right now, in the goal strapped NHL today. This is an immense benefit.

People also objected because you were misleading on some posts without doing proper research and that the comments were not consistent to your previous posting history.

The example of the former is: You were only looking at where A.Nyalnder was ranked in his Bob Mckenzie pre-season position, compared to William's Final Ranking. When you were corrected that W.Nylander was Ranked even higher than A.Nylander in Bob McKenzie's Pre-season ranking, your point became moot.

The Latter point refers to you valuing centers of wingers in all circumstances when players are similar, but here. I.E Marner/Barzal. If these two are any bit comparable, we lean towards the center, no? Lol.

Even to this day, nothing suggest that A.Nylander will be the better player OR prospect at the same age. It could very will happen, but what has been done today to prove it?

How about accepting an opinion based on actual viewings of a player made by a poster that it may be possible. People are allowed to have opinions do they not? Pronman saying the same thing I said weeks ago does add validity to my statement to some I would assume, and I say this even though Pronman is not one of my favorite draft commentators. But in this one case I do agree with him.
