Gaudreau, Panarin, Point

He'll get drafted in the.... 2nd. Teams might see him as 1st rounder but will have 1 guy ahead of him due to size
If he continues scoring like this, I think Leafs will possibly draft him with the Pitt pick. But if he finishes over .9 GPG i have trouble seeing him last that long. Smaller guys have made massive leaps due to insane point totals, first the comes to mind is Skinner and Pat Kane, even at this point last year people viewed Marner as a mid 1st guy. I wish I could watch more Otters (without streaming), due to having the rogers sports pack it has been fairly easy to watch OHL teams, Erie seems to be the exception.

He's going in the first round. If he keeps up this scoring pace, he's going in the top 10, possibly the top 5.

Gaudreau was seen as very talented in his draft year, but he hadn't exploded yet the way he would at BC, and he was less well known. DeBrincat is ripping it up in the OHL and scouts just can't ignore that. More and more are putting him in their top 10.

DeBrincat with 3 points last night, leads the league with 52 points in 25 games.

For reference, he had 41 points in his first 25 games last season playing exclusively with McDavid. He's been on and off Strome's line this season.

Yeah. This level of production simply can't be dismissed. He's small, but you have to pull the trigger at some point late in the first. Especially if you have two picks in the round. For example, does anyone think there's any chance Arizona passes on him with that late Rangers 1st? There's no way. I'd say the Rangers 1st is the latest possible pick he'll be selected with.

We all said the same about Jordan Schroeder. Can't ignore the production, even with the size. We were all wrong on that one, but they're different players and the Schroeder flop doesn't mean that this player isn't worth a shot late in the 1st.

Debrincat has been in on 44% of Erie's goals this year while missing one game. Even on a team as offensively gifted as Erie. This is contextually very impressive.

If he finishes the season at ~2 PPG, it's hard to imagine him not being a top 15 pick, even at his size. Even more so because he's pretty hard working and gritty, despite being small. How long has it been since a CHLer put up 2 PPG in their draft season (in a relatively full season, not some tiny sample size with injuries), and DIDN'T go top 15?

As much as he deserves to be a top 15 pick at this point, a lot of idiotic teams are still gonna be turned off by his size. I see him going late 1st round possibly early 2nd.

i've never seen him play live. is this kid a brilliant skater?

Brilliant no, but he is a good skater. Not top flight speed, but he's very quick and good edge work. Works really hard and gets on dmen quickly. Relentless going into the corners and battling in front.

While many teams may still be turned off by his size, I think those concerns are really overblown. He is still solid along the boards and finding the scoring areas. He rarely, if ever, is caught in a position with his head down where he gets lit up. In fact, I think I've seen him give out more big hits than he has received.

Seconded. Won't blow you away with his speed and won't be the fastest skater out there, but his effort level is through the roof and he doesn't shy away from any contact to make a play. His shot is really good too, saw him live and anything that didn't hit the net sounded like it was going to break through the boards.

It's been a while since any CHLer put up over 2 ppg period, excepting McDavid. Marner was right at 2X in his draft year. Patrick Kane was the last CHL leading scoring with over 2 points per game.

The question then becomes , how does his game translate at the NHL level. What is his ceiling with his size definately being a consideration. 1st line winger, or lower. Its graet that he is putting up points jn the CHL but its not the NHL. Maybe the CHL is his ceiling.

Kinda want the Oilers to go on a streak just so that they're in a position where they could realistically draft Debrincat. Would be kinda cool.

Those are probably two of the best qualities an undersized player can have to have a good career. Would a less chippy but more skilled Brendan Gallagher be a good comparison for DeBrincat or am I way off?

What's his compete level?....guys his size have to play a fearless, dogged game in the NHL to stay in the lineup...think Martin St. Louis......because the room they get in junior in the scoring areas just disappears in both the NHL and the AHL...skill and finesse alone won't get it done.

He doesn't back down from anyone

Why don't you try looking like four posts above yours?

Jonathan Drouin did in his draft year.
