I don't think he will. Like Petan and Bjorkstrand, no matter what the numbers are, scouts won't give him the benefit of the doubt due to his size. Early 2nd rounder at best

I could be wrong but isn't 2016 a weaker draft? Maybe he slips into late first?

I hear a lot of crickets from the haters earlier..this kid is going to be a player..has grit too..late first is where he stands right now and that might be a bit low as this draft doesn't seem as deep as last years...he can go even higher.

I don't buy that,maybe 5 years ago,but not today,not anymore.
Personally i don't think GM's nor scouts see small frame
a disadvantage anymore

FYI Alex is only 1,2 inch's shorter than Johnny Gaudreau,
sure Johnny went 104th,but that was 2011,now is now
that was then.

Bjorkstrand? dude is 6 feet tall 180 pounds
not small guy at all,Gaudreau is 150 pounds,
another tit bit,DeBrincat is 162 pounds.

N Petan, WHL vs OHL.

He's good. Someone will be glad they got him.

Does he play with strome, and how does he look with Strome if they play with each other.

Last night was Stromes first game back with Erie. DeBrincat still put up 7 points in the three games he played before Strome returned. He has an elite skill set.

His NHL potential really just comes down to whether he can continue to play his hard nosed go to the net game against bigger stronger players.

I think he can and i think he's worthy of a late first.

Hypothetically, what kind of points would he have to put up to merit a 1st overall pick?

Obviously not saying it would happen, but what would it require?

I'd say about 200. I expect him to play 67 games (OHL regular season is 68, missed the first game for the All American Prospect's Game), and 200 would be about 3.0 PPG.

lol holy ****, when was the last time a smurf (a real smurf, 5'7 or 5'8) got picked in the top 10?

i guess Domi came close, he went #12 and he was like 5'9.
Granlund and Schwartz were pretty small too

..but 5'7.. yikes.
