3 points tonight, = 9 (2+7) points for 3 play-offs games,
Otters take commanding 3-0 lead in the series.

From his 7 assists,6 are first ones, only 1 is secondary assist,
he can clearly make the play as well.

DeBrincat's combined stats from last 4 seasons (these play-offs included)

13-14 Lake Forest A (USHS) 74 goals,145 points in 66 games
14-15 Erie Otters (OHL) 60 goals,120 points in 88 games
15-16 Erie Otters (OHL) 60 goals,120 points in 73 games
16-17 Erie Otters (OHL) 67 goals,136 points in 66 games

= 261 goals,521 points in 293 games

Don't follow Jr hockey but how impressive is 2 goals + 11 assists in 4 playoff games?

It's crazy impressive. I think the way the NHL game is moving away from punishing, physical defence men, players like Alex will really thrive even if they are smaller. Chicago got themselves another gem!

If he can transition his game to the NHL, he's going to kill it on a line with Kane and Toews

He won't play with Toews and Kane because Toews and Kane don't play on the same line and haven't for many years. Maybe on the Power Play but that would be unlikely too because it would be hard to break up Kane and Panarin and the magic they make together.

Maybe if Panik doesn't re-sign he could try to earn the spot on Toews wing.

I'm excited to see what Korshkov can bring to the Leafs line-up (big body with skill) but I would not have been upset if the Leafs took DeBrincat at 31.

I was hoping for DeBrincat or Benson in that spot.

It's crazy that he's scoring a half point more per game than teammate and #2 pick Dylan Strome (Strome is also a year older). Has a offensive guy drafted that high ever been out scored by a younger teammate? I do knotice DeBrincat's goals are down an assists are way up in the playoffs and vise versa for Strome. Does anyone know if Erie changed things up on the powerplay or something?

He's small but ****, if he's gonna play like this there's not a ton of reasons to knock him until he gets a shot in the league.

Strome had a bad flu in round 2 of the playoffs.

Who do you guys think his NHL comparable will be? Physically he seems around the same size as Cam Atkinson, but stylistically and on the ice who do you compare him too?

Thanks`

I could see DeBrincat having a more consistent impact than a player like Frank Vatrano, but their strengths seem to line up. Built lower body heavy, crazy good shot, follows his rebounds to the net. Nothing really jumps off the page, but the puck always ends up in the back of the net. He seems really adept at finding the dead spots in the slot and getting his shot off before the defense has time to react. Quick release. I could see 30-20-50 seasons for DeBrincat. Especially if he can find his way into the mix on a scoring line with Chicago's better playmakers. If he can claim that spot on the RW with Toews, that would be a really advantageous position.

That's a good comparison as well, though I don't see Debrincat as having as much physical strength/explosiveness as Vatrano, but he's got a much better nose for the net and ability to deflect pucks etc.

Like how he looks in today's Memorial Cup game. Terrifically skilled player. It's probably too early to make a definite call on draft winners, but when I look at where he was picked, I would definitely picked him over some of the players picked before him. Confident in saying Chicago got great value here.

That is absurd. Chicago was probably the best possible destination for him, too. Expecting him to thrive.

I was pretty disappointed when Edmonton passed on him in last year's draft. I think he'll do well in Chicago, but I wish he could play with McDavid again. He's gotten so much better since his 16 year old season. Someone above suggested we could see 30-20-50 seasons from him and I'd have to agree. With a top flight center, though, I don't think 40-40-80 is out of the question.

That is very much out of the question. In today's NHL if you're hitting 80 points, you're a borderline superstar.

I don't see why anyone would count anything out for a player with this kind of resume:

- CHL Memorial Cup All-Star Team 16/17
- CHL Rookie of the Year 14/15
- CHL Top Prospects Game 15/16
- OHL Champion 16/17
- OHL First All-Rookie Team 14/15
- OHL Most Assists by Rookie 14/15
- OHL Most Goals 16/17
- OHL Most Goals by Rookie 14/15
- OHL Most Outstanding Player (Red Tilson Trophy) 16/17
- OHL Most Points (Eddie Powers Trophy) 16/17
- OHL Most Points by Rookie 14/15
- OHL Playoffs Most Assists 16/17
- OHL Playoffs Most Points 16/17
- OHL Rookie of the Year (Emms Family Award) 14/15
- OHL Second All-Star Team 14/15
- OHL Third All-Star Team 15/16
- OHL Top Scoring Right Winger (Jim Mahon Trophy) 16/17

So DeBrincat becoming a "borderline superstar" is "very much out of the question"? I grant you it's pretty unlikely, but it's not out of the question at all.

I have very limited expectations due to his foot speed and size, but with his IQ and shot, maybe he lands with Kane and scores 30.
