Oh I wish that line would play in regular season aswell, it has some major potential I must say =)

It may actually happen. DeBrincat is making it very difficult to send him back to Rockford (AHL). There is a lot of chemistry, although it's a small sample size.

The Hawks don't have many roster spots available so it will be tough for guys like DeBrincat and Hayden to start the year with the club because they're still waiver exempt.

Has definitely earned his spot on the roster. Literally only notice his height when the Hawks gather together after a goal or a win.

Could truly see him put up 50pts this year.

If he doesn't score regularly he'll be shipped to the AHL, so if he stays with the Hawks all season it means he's scoring regularly and 50 points isn't too much of a stretch. He's known for scoring goals but he's also a very good playmaker and should rack up as many assists as goals.

Nice one-timer but the assist was even more impressive.

Looks like he and his line mates (Sharp and Anisimov) may be developing a little chemistry.

When Schmaltz gets back from missing a couple games (hopefully tomorrow against Minny), the line combos will get back to normal. If Hartman-Schmaltz-Kane produce like they did they did before Schmaltz got injured - then Q will leave things alone. But, if Hartman's production slows down, I could see Q swapping Hartman and DeBrincat with DCat moving up with Kane and Schmaltz. DCat's sniping and passing abilities with Kane would be fun.

There will be teams regret not drafting this kid when he was rated to go on the first round. Irony is that he scored against the team that traded his pick. It was that Shaw deal's 2nd round pick

I think it's fair at this point to say his size, barring injuries, will not be an issue.

He's got one hell of a release.

Had two goals and a primary assist in Saad's OT goal tonight. Was our best player tonight.

Edit: Here's his highlights from the game.

Kids a stud. Always in the right spot offensively. Defensively not a liability.

Release is world class. He really isn't even being put in the best situation to succeed and still is.

He simply can just score goals.

How this guy fell to the 2nd round we’ll never know. Reminds me of Saad where everyone knew he was one of the top players in the draft but doubted him anyway. Special player with one of the best shots in the NHL. Should be a perennial 30 goal scorer. Pretty solid all around too. Plays with a lot of tenacity and passion.

I think it is good time to kick start this thread (for the last time) before this season ends and he is officially
no more a prospect.

Its March 27 2018 and here's the Cat's season so far in numbers (5 games left)

26 goals 22 assists 48 points +6, 6 pim, 6 ppg, 5 ppa, 11 ppp, 173 sog

Hopefully he scores 30 goals and 50 points this season,
30 goals is a long shot, only 5 games left, but if someone can do it
the cat can :)

Kane&DeBrincat lead the Hawks with 26 goals
DeBrincat's +/- +6 leads the team
DeBrincat is 2nd in Hawks PP goals with 6
DeBrincat is 4th in Hawks scoring with 48 points
DeBrincat is 5th in Hawks PP points with 11
DeBrincat is 5th in Hawks sog with 173

Obviously leads all Hawks rookies in every category

- wish his TOI / game would of been higher thou
deserved better than 14.5 minutes per game avg

He has done all of this WITHOUT playing with Kane. Look at his most common line mates this season:

Plus, he is getting less than 15 minutes per game. Q has definitely not showcased Debrincat. It will be interesting to see what a new coach does next season. The two best playmakers on the Hawks are Kane and Schmaltz and Debrincat has had zero exposure to either of them.
