Larionov sounds a little too accusatory and self-serving here. He claims steroid use was voluminous, ripe and systematic, even forced on players.
But, true to form, he, himself, never doped.![]()
Nothing spurs more unanimity among Russian fans as the hatred of Larionov. He was the guy who constantly whined and complained about how hard and cruel the Soviet system was, and what a meany Tikhonov was. He mused about how he wished he would have stayed in Voskresensk and landed a good factory job, but nevertheless ultimately consented to accepting all of the millions of dollars and lavish lifestyle that Coach Tikhonov's cruel methods got him. The bitterness of his fate brings tears to all of our eyes, and we hope that he can feel peace just collecting the millions that he gets for delivering fresh Russian meat to the CHL in his role as "Russian Legend."
