He sumped up the situation. He got injured in a gym & played two poor games. He did not say coaches he had problems with a back. He trained as a D-man in last training, so it is clear he does not make a team.

Can anybody translate the skype interview with Ivan Chekhovich? It starts at 7:10. Thanks in advance.

-So it's true you got injured?
-Yeah, i got injured and now i won't make the team.
-But it doesn't nessesary means you won't make final list?
- Well, it most likely i won't make it, because tonight i was training with defencemen.
-What happened?
-I got injurred in the gym, and then i played 2 poor games, so now i won't make the team.
-What bothering you exactly?
-well i have issues with the back, now it appeared again.
- i heard that you was forced to the gym to lift weights but it wasn't necessary for you and you have overstrained there?
-yeah i have overstrained under weights
-did you tell coaches that it's not good for you to lift?
-.. it was actually my mistake, i thought that weight is going to be small. and you know you couldn't go to the trainer and tell him - it's too heavy for me, not for Feng Shui (probably meant real bros don't do that.)
- if your back was hurt why don't you tell?
- my back wasn't hurt, it didn't bothered me for a year. but trainer gave you instructions and i went for it.

Was Alex Kovanov never really in the running to see much playing time this year?Seems he was centering the 2nd or 3rd line most of the pre tournament games no?Then his linemate gets hurt, now he probably won't even make the team. What happened?

You have to wonder just how good would Svechnikov and Kostin would be now had they kept developing in khl.. I think they would thrive a lot more back home... Even Svechnikov.

And come over like tarasenko, kuzya, ovi,malkin...

I think Bragin initially envisioned Khovanov on a line with Chekhovich (they were great during the subway series). But when Chekhovich injured himself and underperformed, Khovanov was put with different partners...unfortunately he was sort of invisible. Coaching staff opted for the Marchenko-Morozov-Podkolzin line instead.

Chekhovich posted on his insta. "my tongue is my enemy ('shouldn't talk too much'), Life goes on, Merry Christmas" So there are rumors now he had a conflict with Znarok.

Talking too much is the exact opposite of talking too little. He doesn't specify what he means by that, but it does not suggest he talked too little about sustained injuries.

Really looking forward to watch Denisenko-Kravtsov-Kostin and Marchenko-Morozov-Podkolzin, hopefully Bragin will provide the latter line adequate TOI. That line could be an unexpected weapon for Russia.

Yes, when russians say "язык мой - враг мой" they mean they talked too little, riiight.

Really hurting, yup. LOL

He is not talking about the exceptional talents, who would have been brilliant hockey players if they trained in a pizza restaurant. He is talking about the vast majority of less than exceptional talents that flop in NA, and who might have had a better chance to develop where they, you know, spoke the same language and that sort of thing!

The vast majority of those North Americans don't make it either

Anyway, glad the Russian team indicates Kovalenko made it

You know the vast majority of non-exceptional talents just straight up don't make it regardless of where they are from right?

My point was that while the vast majority of non-exceptional talents don't make it, Orr made it! Gretzky made it! Lemieux made it! Crosby made it! The poster showed a clip of Andrei Svechnikov being drafted, apparently to rebut my contention that Russian kids have a better chance of successful development by staying home. Simply stating that Svechnikov or Ovechkin or Malkin made it does not even begin to address the issue of where Russian kids should learn hockey. If Russia was judged to have a slightly better junior league, would 16- or 17-year old Canadian kids be better off going by themselves to live in Russia to develop their hockey? Explain your point if you have one!

Agent Nikolaev: Around 60 prospects moved to Canada last year, around 25 every previous year. Only 3 or 4 develops into solid hockey players at best. If we look at the NHL now, there are exclusively those Russians who fully developed in Russia.

Most kids don't realize that what made them successful in th first place was a russian style of training mixed with russian style of hockey, both of which are drastically different in Na. To top it off they are not even done developing when they leave so they suck at russian style before they even pick up a new one.

Problem is not just elite talent level, it's the guys just below that who are promising playerS that are thrown off their planned development

The talk in St. Louis was that Kostin was very unhappy with the way his KHL team treated him. He lost his pre draft year to a shoulder injury that started as a minor thing but the team told him to play through it and it eventually blew out. Kostin would have stayed otherwise I think. The Blues had a terrible situation last year with no true AHL affiliation and it cost Kostin valuable development game time.

I hope Kostin plays as well this tournament as he did last year. But something tells me he won't.
