Agent Nikolaev: Klim Kostin has not got a single chance in St.Louis Blues & NHL. His agent not working good.

Pretty sure he was envisioned as a player who can play in the top 6 , if so then more than 11 pts in 28 games is expected. If he grinds it out another year and has a good beginning to next season like Gurianov, he will get his chances.

Kostin and Alexeyev are 2 of like the 3-4 most important pieces on this team. Outside of Chekhovich who's injured there's really no other Russian prospect worth putting on this team.

PLAYERS ARE INDIVIDUALS. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. Going overseas might work or not work for some kids based on their personality, character, skill level and options. Staying home might work or not work for other kids. There's no tried and true method. I wish posters like you would understand that and stop making things political. Please can we just talk about this Russian team and this tournament instead of trying to make everything a NA vs. Russia debate. THANK YOU.
There is one tried and true method and you know it when you check where the Russians that are worth mentioning developed.

Well he also said he's playing at December 31, so..

So what? Injury may or may not prevent someone from playing. Didn't he play in preliminary games as well? Why make up things when everything can be adequately explained by the facts on hand?

CHL draftees his age aren't even AHL eligible yet. Its too early to be worrying about his scoring output. Its not elite, but is he an elite prospect?

Probably top 6 potential but not elite. 2nd line or very good 3rd liner contributing around 40-60 pts in his best and worst years during his prime. I think St.Louis would be happy with that.

I agree, so its not surprising. Most players of his ability don't play in the AHL at his age.

"Agent Nikoleav" doesn't watch Rampage games then. Kostin looks not only like an NHL player, but he looks like like a very interesting power forward that could eventually slide into a top 6 role. Not bad for a 31st overall pick.

This tournament will be a great barometer of where he is in his development.

Not a single NHL game.

Not a single NHL game.

lol. So? Makar (4), Glass (6), Vilardi (10), Suzuki, Foote, Brannstrom, Liljigren, Norris, Joseph, Poehling, Oettinger, Frost, Bowers all 1st rounders taken ahead of him haven't played a game either. OH WOW I GUESS THEY DON'T HAVE A CHANCE AT THE NHL!

You're grasping at straws trying to make an argument but the argument just gets weaker and weaker, just give it up. He was a late 1st picked in 2017, there are many 1sts from that draft who have yet to play a game yet alone the few prospects that have even played in the NHL who were taken after him (6 in the entire draft-- which includes 1 emergency callup for a goalie, and 1 EU overager).

Not playing in a game yet has nothing to do with him, and more to do with the organization he plays for.

I watched every game Kostin played in San Antonio last year, he got pretty preferential treatment and plenty of opportunity. The team was bad, the coach was bad and yeah he played some 4th line but that's nothing compared to Colorado having to send real prospects to the ECHL because there was no room in the lineup.

Kostin was probably not ready for the AHL last year but he just needed someplace to play. I am not against the Russian system but when they keep guys in the KHL and play them 2 minutes a game or less I'm not sure that's better than grinding it out in the AHL.

I hope Kostin does well, Ive always liked him and power forward types just need extra time. St Louis should absolutely give him an opportunity, they should have last year especially since they promised him one. They have nothing to lose now.

If a prospect is good enough, he gets his fair change at KHL level. If he is not good enough, he has to develop in junior league (MHL) or in senior VHL. The same is in North America, so many good players in CHL/AHL instead of NHL. And how many 17-years old players play in NHL?

No Dorofeyev or Zamula?

Kostin will get his chance soon. He has a bright future ahead of him. He’s big, strong, skates well, physical and can score. Isn’t he still only 19?

Kostin is big, strong, physical and can skate well, but I question his finishing abilities.
He can physically dominate his peers as WJC level, but I don't see top 6 NHL potential moving forward. That said, there's nothing wrong with an upside of an elite 3rd/4th liner. We don't have many of those players.

I agree but wasn't Gurianov's finishing abilities questioned as well his last WJC year? Though he came through in the tournament with some big goals and is scoring well so far in his 3rd AHL season. Hard to judge by just this tournament.

He’s only 19. There’s still plenty of development time in there.
