Very logical cuts IMO, especially on defense. Least experienced smallest defenders with worst stats and experience got cut.

Forwards are understandable considering injuries and I'm happy Slepets and Podkolzin are in! Time to win gold now!! Soo excited for this team !

Podkolzin in - YESSSS!

What attitude problem? What bizarre situation?

These are just kids; kids who are dead-set on making the team. It’s understandable that a kid wouldn't want to disclose an ailment if it had the slightest chance of keeping him off the roster, even a slight nagging ache or pain.
Being an idiot 19 year old doesnt mean one has attitude issues.

Remember, a few years ago, Bragin cut (I *think* it was) Namestnikov because he failed to disclose an injury to the staff.
That's right, namestnikov actually tried to hide his injury during camp and was cut swtifly.. Even if he could start, he could let the team down at the worst moment. Bragin is teaching these guys a wise lesson

What would be the point of teaching him a lesson? He is ineligible to play next year because of age, so teaching him a lesson would be pointless. Unless he is publicly specifying that he is cutting him for concealing an injury, a lesson would have no value to anyone else as well. If he got injured lifting weights and won't be fully capable of playing, just say that. My guess is that is either a performance or attitude issue that caused him to lose Bragin's trust.

Personally, I doubt that Bragin would cut a valuable player for concealing an injury. That makes less sense than anything. If someone has the desire to play and win, they should actually be encouraged to conceal an injury if they feel well enough to play and help the team. If they don't feel well enough, then that will be reflected in their performance. They will be incapable of performing well and helping the team!

Can anyone post what the PPs looked like in the preliminary game against the Swiss? I assume the big line of Kravtsov-Denisenko-Kostin along with Alexeyeev were on PP1, but who was with them, and what did PP2 look like?
Is Starkov gonna see a decent amount of playing time (including PP) considering his previous success in international play?
It's probably as usual will be just regular lines getting pp times. Bragin doesn't fancy special teams.

The guys below made the team:

Miftakhov, Kochetkov, Tarasov.

Samorukov - Rubinchik, Denisenko - Kravtsov - Kostin;

Alekseev - Romanov, Kovalenko - Shen - Starkov;

Morozov - Zhuravlev, Muranov - Galimov - Slepets;

Marchenko - Iv.Morozov - Podkolzin;

An there is two spots left with four extra guys still in the team:

Kalabushkin - Olshansky, Khovanov, Shashkov.

I believe it's called '"setting a precedence." in English; which is teaching a lesson by cracking down on unwanted acts so they're not repeated by others in the future.

I also applaud players with a desire to play, but, especially in short tournaments, it's essential for coaches to know what to expect from players 100%. A small injury can quickly turn into a significant injury, it only takes one hit.

Pretty much as expected. Imo, the only surprise is Rubinchik instead of Olshansky. But I suppose we have enough offense on the blue-line already.

Often times, you read only half the post so you don't understand what was being said. I quoted an ESPN documentary in which a number of guys from the Soviet era were interviewed on camera, including Tretiak, Petrov, Mikhailov, Yakushev, Fetisov, Kasatonov, Makarov, Larionov, and several Soviet era journalists, including Vsevolod Kukushkin. All of them spoke negatively about Tikhonov as a human being, and painted a negative contrast with Tarasov. At the same time, they praised Tikhonov as an innovator who used advanced techniques to improve Soviet hockey. I thought Tikhonov was one of the greatest coaches of all time in hockey, but over time, his players became exhausted with his methods and stop trying to excel and basically quit on him. That is a coach's fault. The coach is supposed to find ways to motivate the team. If he cannot, then he must be replaced!

Chernyshev was truly a great coach and deserves credit for helping to create Soviet hockey, but I completely reject the claim that he was the "REAL" founder of Soviet hockey. He was a quiet guy who sat in the background in his knit cap while the forceful personality of Tarasov built a great machine!
See, you are too fell victim to the narratives. Chernyshev was the quiet guy who created all those things that are knownas soviet hockey quietly sitting in the background while Tarasov was was a great motivator and a hard to not notice personality, but all the theory came from Chernyshev while Tarasov implemented it and did all the work with the players. They were The great duo, but Tarasov gets all the fanfare for the obvious reason of being the vocal frontman. The great machine would never exist without Chernyshev though.

Tikhonov was by no means perfect while he managed to perfect what the Duo built before him and it was a tough task. Some few players didn't like his methods, but some did.

I think we'll see Olshansky, he was pretty much their best dman in the Canada series and came out of nowhere for me. As much offense as they have in a tournament like this, a player like Olshansky is invaluable. He's basically like a Brannstrom lite. This team needs that.

I also think Shashkov comes in there for Pod early if he doesn't look good. I don't expect a long leash on the young man.

Nice to see you extatic:)

That Chekhovich injury probably had it's part in it, but who cares now. Let's see what the kid can do. If he plays with Marchenko and Morozov he should have adequate linemates too.

They have a favourable schedule. I don't see Podkolzin struggle against the Danes.

Not sure what to make of the Chekhovich situation. On one hand he was stupid for not telling them about a pre-existing ailment, on the other hand, what kind of 1970's training regiment do they have these kids doing DURING the season. That's beyond stupid to start piling on new training routines.
Nothing stupid about whatever excercises the coaches see fit. Stupid of a player to not tell the coaches he has a medical issue. Understandable though because they all wanted to make the roster. An unwise move by a young kid.

Chekhovich posted on his insta. "my tongue is my enemy ('shouldn't talk too much'), Life goes on, Merry Christmas" So there are rumors now he had a conflict with Znarok.

A regret that he revealed an injury in an interview, so now his QMJHL opponents will be testing it, is too simple of an explanation here? People need something juicier?

Well he also said he's playing at December 31, so..

Crimes? What crimes? What the hell are you talking about?
Did you see the quotation marks?

Larionov is an ungrateful son of a ***. He is an egocentric wannabe "professor". The way he handled his flight is one thing, but if he'd live his life however he wants and stay away from russian hockey I would not give a fart and forget what he did in the past. This man however is hurting russian hockey here and now by pushing his agenda of persuading young Russians to leave for NA. He is personally responsible for the debacle Nail Yakupov's career is. He even goes out of his way to push his precious person as a high rank FHR official candidate. He is so full of himself.

It is a very good signal only 3 players from Canadian/American leagues make the team. Going to Canada/America too early is hurting their careers.

Kostin and Alexeyev are 2 of like the 3-4 most important pieces on this team. Outside of Chekhovich who's injured there's really no other Russian prospect worth putting on this team.

PLAYERS ARE INDIVIDUALS. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. Going overseas might work or not work for some kids based on their personality, character, skill level and options. Staying home might work or not work for other kids. There's no tried and true method. I wish posters like you would understand that and stop making things political. Please can we just talk about this Russian team and this tournament instead of trying to make everything a NA vs. Russia debate. THANK YOU.

Give me numbers of Russian prospects moving to the CHL/USHL for last 10 years. How many of them made it to the NHL? What about %?

You can say whatever you want about individuals. Stats are clear.
