There are some rumours that the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl are considering trading some of their young players, including Rushan Rafikov. Interesting from the Flames standpoint since the biggest reason Rafikov wanted to stay in Russia was that he could play for Lokomotiv.

I just don't get why they would do that immediately after signing him to a two year deal.

He can't play in the NHL as long as he has a valid KHL contract and he just signed a 2 year deal. So unless he is released or buys his way out of his contract he can't come play in North America.

There's definitely something to the Flames acquiring a goaltender and moving Hiller.

But then again, this particular case could be Dreger confusing Treliving's insistence of having a pulse on everything that's going in trade circles with serious interest in Talbot.

Not sure about that. For him to say who the most likely destinations are, I'd say he must have gotten that from a Rongos source.

I think there is definitely something to the Flames trying to bring in a goalie though. Draft day might be a busy one for the Flames.

If there seemed to be interest on his end to resign, he would be a significant add. Okposo is a pretty rare player, any team could use him.

I agree, but the odds of a pick becoming a NHL player are slim. I would rather acquire the guy who has played in the NHL and has been really good than for someone who we hope to be just as good or even play a single game.

I wouldn't trade Hudler but rather the pick.

I'm not against Okposo, but giving up on a potential player for us (Merkley is the awesome player everyone wants right?) for the next ten years for one year of a current NHLer doesn't seem like a good move to me.

How is that Stanley Cup or bust? We'd have a year to re-sign him, so it's not like it's a pure rental. And Hudler is a UFA next summer too. Okposo is young and exactly what we need in terms of a top 6 forward.

The odds of the 15th OA pick becoming a 65 point forward are fairly slim.
