i think ROR is just going to give us cap trouble in the end. Like he is a great top 6 player with some great size and fills a need in the line up, but I would rather sign our homegrown players like Mony Gaudreau and Bennett to big contracts instead of ROR

If we signed a guy like Williams or Frolik I could see this happening because I know WSH is looking for a top line RW

WSH
Hudler

CGY
Bowey
1st 2016

I think WSH might be overpaying and there might need to be an add from Calgarys POV but if someone to going to get Hudler, they are going to have to pay as BT said. But Bowey looks like he is going to be a stud and he is a RHS which is a huge plus. Brodie - Bowey would be a great future top pairing IMO

I don't think that's enough to get for Hudler by himself, let alone add Backlund to the deal, although granted I don't know much about Hanzal, just that he's big.

He misses around 15 games a year, but he's enormously underrated. Treliving knows him well, he's an absolute stud. Personally I think he's almost as good as Backes, I also think he's better defensively than Backlund. His offensive game has really come around the last 2 seasons as well.

I don't think Arizona would do the deal though. Hanzal is still relatively young and Gormley/Murphy are building blocks on their D, while Hudler is the wrong side of 30 for them and Backlund would be a downgrade, while being slightly older than Hanzal.

We need to look out of conference for trades IMO. I think that Washington trade would be the best, or something close to that, IF we were to move Hudler.

I would be interested in Oduya in the off-season. 1-2 year deal. Would be a great 4-5 dman. We have the cap to do it as well.

Gio - Brodie
Russell - Wideman
Oduya - Engelland/Wotherspoon/ Smid(If he does comeback)

Would be able to play in the top 4 anytime. One guy I would be very interested in would be Hjmarlsson. I doubt we could get him. It's drool worthy.

I don't really see the value in that Arizona trade for either team really. I really like Hanzal but I don't think the value is there. If it was Hanzal + Stone I would consider it.

Regardless, I don't think there would be any reason for ARZ to do it. Likely one year of a 30 + RW when they are in a full on rebuild and a downgrade at C.

Likewise, I don't see why Treliving would give up Hudler in any deal like this for anything less than a significant upgrade on Backlund. I don't see Hanzal as enough of an upgrade on Backlund to warrant including Hudler in the deal for an ok defenceman coming back.

In my mind I think the most likely destination for Hudler is Washington, maybe even Pittsburgh.

I heard Oduya wears pink coloured underwear, no thanks.

Oduya would be a great add IMO.

Also, if we traded Hudler I also think Washington would do it. Although, I'd rather we got Burskovsky and a first. Doubt they give up Bowey, but they have a lot of great young wingers. And we would have one legit top six winger if we traded Hudler.

I disagree, they'd probably give Bowey instead of Burakovsky. They still have Orlov and Carrier as their top end defenseman prospects, Burakovsky is already an NHLer.

Hudler for Washington's 1st and Bowey is overpayment, but an Ovechkin - Backstrom - Hudler line would be absolutely lethal.

honestly the only way I do a deal with Washington is if Bowey is coming back. I guess a first might be over payment. But seriously only way I would do it is if we sign Williams or Frolik this summer, because trading Hudler leaves us a giant whole at RW.

I think Frolik would be a solid add if Hudler left. He's pretty much a lesser version of Hudler.

I would imagine a 50% retained Hidler would be very valuable to a team like Pittsburgh and to a lesser extent Montreal. A 2 million dollar 60-65 point RW to play with either Crosby or Malkin would be good value for a team like the Pens. Montreal could also use a top line RW'er for cheap. Hurdler is already on a very good cap hit for his production, but if we lower that further it should increase his value.

With one year remaining on his contract the 2 million we would still pay Hudler would be off the books before Mony's, Johnny's and Gio's contracts kick in, so it wouldn't hurt us at all really.

The big question for me is would retaining Hudler at 50% (or whatever) increase his value enough for it to make it worth while for us to do so? It might, I don't think either team can afford a guy like Kessel without making some other changes, and like I said, I think a 2 million either good 1st line or great 2nd line RW would be valuable to a lot of teams, especially Pittsburgh.

Maybe I'm just being greedy but I don't want Hudler moved short of vast vast overpayment.

His mentorship and leadership has been absolutely huge. Not to mention I really don't think its a good idea to ship out our only legit top six RW and leading point scorer when there was such a precipitous drop off in forward scoring after our top line.

I mean if we get to the deadline and we regressed terribly and are way out of it? Sure. Move him and beg him to please come back in the off season.

The thing is I don't think Hudler fetches a 1st if we don't move him until the deadline, imo at least.

I think if he isn't traded this offseason then he will be staying with the team full time because I would imagine that the Flames will be in the playoff race yet again in our weak division.
