If Puljujarvi hated the locker room environment because of Lucic, whom he and his agent believed would never be moved, then it makes even more sense that he still wanted to leave the team despite a new coaching staff and general manager. (I'm guessing he just has bad feelings overall about his time in Edmonton and would like a fresh start to be happier.)

I once had the displeasure of playing on a competitive team for a few seasons with a couple of huge *******s. It was a huge relief when they left.

I know the feeling.
Getting yelled at from your best player during a game and having the other team witness it, is not a good feeling...and shrinks you as a player.

I'm guessing Holland's focus is now toward a center who can win faceoffs and PK like Brian Boyle. I think he knows if special teams can even hang around the middle of the pack we should compete for a playoff spot. Right now we really don't have anyone to count on for defensive zone draws other than Draisaitl. Brodziak and Cave are both questionable to make the team IMO.

I've said it many times on this forum, but Jesse has been a kid playing without any semblance of confidence for seasons now.

I don't think people on this board understand how important things like locker room dynamics are for prospects.

I was actually starting to think more and more that this could have been the very reason for JP not wanting to go back to that same dressing room. Holland likely identified it as one of the issues with the team that needed to be addressed and did his magic. Won't be surprised if in a week we hear news of JP signing a contract.

The main trade board really is a treat. Read about a half dozen times of treliving being *cough cough* "savvy in this trade. Now to be fair each time was from the same poster but still.......

Also, while I am lucky to have never been bullied (except once when I was fourteen by a friend's older brother about nachos), I do recognize that it is a very real thing.

I have had friends struggle in workplaces, school and extracurriculars because of bullying from one to a few people, and it took each person time to get over it.

If it is true that Puljujarvi has been bullied in the locker room, then all the more power to him for trying to change his situation. If it was led by Lucic, then his move is a huge game changer for Jesse here.

Interesting that the unsigned RFA's for Winnipeg are all USA players... Pionk, Copp, Connor and then 1 Finn of course... Laine.

Just realized Copp is having his arbitration hearing today.

The Sh*t market effect is about to hit Winnipeg like it's been hitting Edmonton for 3 Decades.

Kassian is exactly the type of player you keep....he is fast, tough and isnt an offensive liability.
Especially after downgrading their toughness by trading Lucic.

He's also a pending Ufa with a history of being an inconsistent player.

If you can find a good return for him today I don't see why you wouldn't do it.

Finding toughness shouldn't exactly be this teams top priority.

That is complete horse ****. If Looch did that he was far from a leader. When I hear stuff like this and Lucic's hate for Maroon, it makes me wonder if an unhappy Lucic kept the room in an uncomfortable and negative state?

He didn’t say that. Complete embellishment.

Completely disagree with you on this...you need to factor in the early yeats of Zack Kassian when he had substance abuse issues. That changed in the later half of 2016.
From 2017 to 2019 Kassian has become a better more consistent player.

Considering that he is tough as nails and can skate and can score a few goals (averaging approx 10 over the last 3 years) you have to make sure of what you have before you trade him.

Why do you think Calgary traded for Lucic? I wouldnt trade Kassian for Lucic even if they had the same contract but the point being these types of players (functional toughness) are hard to get.

That being said Lucci has to really elevate his game to be at Kassians level...I dont think its possible.
Poor Calgary. :D

What about a year ago when he was terrible and nobody wanted him including the Oilers?

He's been inconsistent his entire career including his time with the Oilers.

If you can get a team to over value toughness and give you a decent young player for Kassian or a 2nd round pick plus a b prospect that's something you should jump all over.

Even ball hockey I’ve had this happen. I’m not a great player by any stretch as im pretty slow, but one thing I can do is finish, I have a quick, hard, accurate shot.

I was in on a 2 on 1 with a very talented new teammate who ran himself into a corner, then fired a knee high pass toward the front of the net that I tried to tip and missed. He screamed at me the whole way back to the bench for missing his shitty pass (I was too winded to yell back). Thankfully our captain put him in his place pretty quick and told him his pass was garbage. We made up next game when I finished a couple of his passes that weren’t ass - but it’s a tough situation when the locker room doesn’t feel welcoming.
