Really? the Oilers are monsters for throwing 18/19yr olds into the league and expect them to get the team out of the gutter but somehow that will work for the Leafs.

One word. Babcock. Their U21s are in good hands.

Trouba might be on the outside looking in as with Myers--

Once we know what Trouba contract demands are--we will know what is up with him

Trouba was reportedly asking for 8 years at $7M+ back around Christmas.

Pretty impressive that Winnipeg can be so bad despite having so many guys on their team who think they're #1 defensemen.

Doubt you get much more than a 2nd round pick to trade down, cetainly not a decent actual player. The drop from 4 to 10ish isnt significant enough that I'd expect many teams to give up much value.

Myers? They just traded for him and his salary is cheaper than his cap hit, which a team like Winnipeg must love.

Trouba is just doing what every other RFA does and probably signs for 4-5m long term or 3-4 on a short term deal.

Plus why would they want another RHD if they move Trouba?

It just doesn't make sense. Add in Snow and RFAs, and unless Trouba does want a ridiculous amount, its just too many what ifs to make sense. Its not happening, despite what Isles fans think.

NYI fans are trying sell me on the 4th plus something for Hamonic right now and seemed to be annoyed by the fact I am saying no and that the oilers have other options

I don't mind trading the pick but I'd be pissed if it was traded before RNH, Ebs, Yak, Reinhart and Nurse

I know some fans wont like the idea--but this board over values Eberle and at 6mill a year--moving him could be hard

Nurse aint going anwhere

Yak aint coming back--get a pick for him at the draft

Nuge has more value then the 4th

Too many red flags with Reinhart to get what we paid for him back

Where do people stand on Hamonic for 4th OV straight up?

Me personally, I want more than Hamonic for 4th OV. Haven't decided if that's a + or if that's a different defenseman.

Want to see what everyone else thinks.

The NY board has a discussion about our 4th and the feeling is we add something to the 4th to get Hamonic--

I have removed myself from that conversation because they are talking in circles and act like we wont have other options.

swing by the board and pick up the debate with where I left it

if we do 4th for Hamonic--who do the NYI have to replace him?

I think I'm going to be very unhappy if most of you are happy this summer.

I do NOT want Subban. Like the person and the player, don't like the salary.

I do NOT want to trade the pick, Draisaitl, Nurse, Klefbom, or Hall (At least no one is suggesting McDavid).

I'm ok with Vatanen or Trouba or Hamonic, but I want to use forwards in the trade to move salary out.

That's it. A simple move of Yak/Eberle/Poo for one, possibly two, of those guys and a healthy team next year. A shiny new #4 overall and I'm a happy camper.

Based on how well Hamonic has played in the playoffs thus far, I don't think I would have any problem with this. I mean the player we might have picked at four could potentially end up a better player in the long run, but the Oilers need help now, and not a few years from now.

There's just no way Hamonic returns a 4th overall pick on his own. And to the bold, that's their problem. Honestly, they aren't getting a similar caliber D back for obvious reasons; unless, Winnipeg has issues with Trouba or Myers and needs to move one of them.

Why not both? Use something else to trade for Hamonic.

Same as before - wouldn't trade the 4th for a minute-muncher. We need a PP specialist.

I want Hamonic but not if it requires the 4th.

Let's put it this way. Would you trade Drai for Hamonic? Of course not. There's other ways to get Hamonic. Don't let Isle fans fool you

I usually discuss these things as my maximum. Discussions wouldn't start at 4th for Hamonic, but if push came to shove I might end up there but no farther.

Although, as far as I'm concerned Hamonic is an established #2 and a passable #1, and that is worth a 2nd tier prospect like the 4th would give.

Also with the expansion draft coming I definitely see the benefit of drafting a forward even, and then getting our Dman by trading forwards that would need protecting. That would also help our future cap situation.

If the Isle tossed in something else, I'd be ok with the 4th for Hamonic. It's an overpayment, but we need a shutdown D like him. Sure he doesn't fix the puck moving issues but we were always going to need two D anyways.

4th for Hamonic + 2nd.
Yak + Pouliot(retained) for Vatanen
32nd for Shaw
Isle 2nd to Boston as compensation
Sign Ladd/Eriksson + Raanta

Hall - Draisaitl - Ladd/Eriksson
Maroon - McDavid - Eberle
Kassian - RNH - Shaw
Hendricks - Letestu - Pak
Lander, Korpse

Sekera - Hamonic
Klefbom - Vatanen
Davidson - Reinhart
Fayne

Talbot
Raanta

I dont know, 4th overall for a young top pair defenceman signed to a value contract it is probably pretty close. I'd be tempted.

He had free agency and a Norris-caliber season in his pocket.

What does Trouba have?

yeah but the initial ask is already 2+ million lower, and my point was that even if Trouba was asking for 7 million, there's a good chance he would sign for a lot less than that since it is all about negotiation. I bet Trouba ends up signed at 5.5 like Hamilton
