Toronto is obviously taking Matthews. Laine is a great player for Winnipeg, will learn from Wheeler. Puljujarvi will be the Finnish GM of Columbus' consolation prize.

Then we have us. Lots of players to choose from at #4. Chiarelli has to be looking to package that pick and a player for a defenceman. I really can't envision him picking any player with that.

Hmm, overpay

Yak and Reinhart are useless. It's a pick and Nuge for Subban in my eyes. If you think that's overpay than you will likely cry when we acquire any top pairing dman. They aren't cheap and if they were we would have added one by now.

Every team is n the league wants more Dmen

Yep, you've got to think the picks traded.

No one in that range really steps in and blows away what is already here.

And Hall bounces back to being the most valuable trading chip.

You know it's going to get talked about, so Hall and the 4th for Subban?

Closest comparable to that I can think of is an unestablished Voracek and the 8th for Carter.

Maroon-McDavid-Eberle
Pouliot-Draisaitl-RNH

Sekera-Subban
Davidson-Klefbom

I'm fine with that as the top6/4

In purgatory
I don't see any of the top 3 trading out of their slots. That leaves us at #4 to start the ball rolling on the big ticket trading, and with Montreal at 9 I could see something revolving around a swap + that would include Subban. Personally, I am not a big fan of the 9 million dollar albatross of a contract, even if it is for a d-man of that calibre -- that being said, I suspect Chiarelli will be making that play and seeing if MTL bites.

Hall and a 4th for Subban is overpay -- you need that 9th coming back, and hopefully Chiarelli has enough saavy to get it back.

4th overall + Griffin Reinhart for Seth Jones

Columbus can then select Laine + Dubois (replaces Johansen).

S. Jones will probably get $6 mil a year for a contract. Rather have Subban at $9.

McDavid and Subban give us top 10 player at C and D. How many teams can say the same?

We should be able to outbid Winnipeg for Hamonic if it comes down to picks, no way they give up #2.

I don't think you'll get the 9th back.

Honestly I don't mind the overpay, to get a team to move a guy whom they don't have to move is going to require one. I've got no issue overpaying to put this team in a better spot overall.

The Oil are set in terms of young elite talent, they need an elite defenceman and then cheap role players to balance the cap.

I apologize if this sucks, but would you guys do this:

To Ottawa:
4th overall

To Edmonton:
Hamonic
42nd overall (via Ottawa)
2017 2nd (via Ottawa)

To Islanders:
12th overall

Good point. The pick could be moved for Hamonic as well.

Lots of options for Chia. I want the pick traded though. I'm sick of bottom 5 finishes

I want an offensive d-man if we're trading 4. Hamonic is a good player but not good enough for that ask, we'd still be stuck looking for an offensive D for the next several years. We have to get this done now.
