Wonder if Jets are in on Brodie.

To NYR: ?
To Jets: Brodie
To Flames: Kreider

We really need a half-decent puck moving D.

On Sportsnet they just said a few tidbits:

Jets are the front runners for Stone. Ottawa still looking for a grade A prospect as part of a package.

Jets also interested in Hayes. Rangers have interest in Logan Stanley.

Eric Staal does not want to be traded but he has no control over that.

Why not pull the "trigger" Chevy -- give them Vesalainen, who they reportedly want, and we'll get Stone, and have a good chance of bringing the Stanley Cup to Winnipeg.

It's OK, being the front runner, but those other teams will hear this and up their offer. We don't need Vesalainen, we don't even know if he'll be good enough to make it.

Why not just "close the deal" and bring this Stone guy home.

They better win the ****ing cup this year, as their roster is going to be as barren as a desert afterwards. :scared:

It's almost like the team owner poked his head in the door and said, "Jarmo? Win a cup this year or you're fired. K? Thanks, bye".
Fine with me. He's assuming the role of Crazy Woman in Green T-Shirt and saving Chevy from himself.

You are assuming they sign no one of consequence in the off-season. The Jackets have proven to be a player in free agency in the past.
I'm assuming that they're going to have trouble signing all these FAs, which leaves then in a begging position next year when it comes to filling out the roster.

ELCs are also so important in today's game - they're potentially mortgaging their future by dumping these picks. The GM is going to have an interesting road to hoe to build a competitive roster that works with the cap in a few years.

There's my less hot take. ;)

Button and servelli was just on saying Ottawa is not letting anybody talk to stone about extension. Which is kind of expected. Dzingal and duchane also were not allowed to talk to anybody.

Strange strategy by Dorion. Other teams would offer the Sens more if they can sign these guys to extensions.

Weird. It's costing them.

They must have meant the fact he does not have a full no trade clause, because he doesn't want to be traded at all.
Yeah, something like that. Staal has been really good for MN, but this year is not the year to be sentimental. It's not like Staal is going to lead the Wild anywhere in the playoffs, with Koivu, Dumba, Nino, Coyle, and possibly Zucker gone. Staal needs to be traded. If he loves it so much in MN then he can sign with them in the summer.

Not really. If one team gets a green light on an extension and others don't it really skews the market.

What is Chevy doing.... it sure doesn’t look like we are in on anything.

Everyone else is loading up and we’re goonna stand pat?

C’mon! Do something!

If you consider Columbus "everyone else". They're the only ones doing anything major.

Dallas and Columbus are teams making trades to try and just make the playoffs, but nether is much of a threat and even if they do make them, will most likely bow out right away.

They will have lots of cap space. Like $34 million in cap space with an $83 million cap. $8.5 - 9 million for Stone; $4.5 - $5.5 million for Dzingel. I expect at least one of those 2 to remain with Panarin all but certain to be signing with another team in the off season. Outside of that, they only have one major RFA in Werenski...probably either a bridge or a long term signing at $6.5 - $7.5 million.

I guess there's 2 ways to look at it -- Stone may tell teams he's not interested in talking resign or extensions til after the season is over. This may give teams the impression that he's not interested in resigning with them--therefore they back off, and Dorion wants everybody in play, to get the best offer.
