All I know is if my house was appraised at 300k and you offered me 300k I'm putting up a for sale sign cause I know I'm getting 29 bids of 300k at the very least and likely alot more. He will test the market. They all do.
If I offered you other perks you could only get from me. And those other 29 can't but it's only on the table now I don't think you'd be a fool for an extra 10 k.

Like what warmer climate and no taxes
Edit. For him to sign here without free agency we would need to pay him at least 10 million aav. With signing bonuses that this team never gives out

couldn't disagree more. a signed stone is way more expensive to the jets then a rental stone. a signed stone could cost us laine. a rental stone would cost us a 1st a prospect and maybe a position player. then if you wanted to trade laine in the summer you would get way more then what you just paid for stone. jets would have no interest in a signed stone whatsoever.

If Stone signs with Ottawa they won't deal him.

Should be an interesting week of back and forth in the end I can see the Jets going to the secondary market for help if they indeed do anything.

Does warm weather beat out being close to his family? It doesn't to me. Does he like staying in Canada? I mean they could move if they really wanted to uplift their life. Does he like traffic as that's worse in Nashville and Vegas.

People on here Wildly overestimate the home town appeal. If it was me? I'd go where I make the most money on a team I think could win OR on a team that I think is an ideal place to live and raise a family.... people cant think Winnipeg is that place vs others. Like common.

I'm sure he would rather make 10 million pay no taxes and go to work in his flip flops. But what some don't get is any big time free agent will get a huge amount of signing bonuses. Like a very big part of the contract. Big market teams can pay this small market teams cant . The jets don't pay that nor would they in this instance. That would most certainly be part of the deal. It would be something like 10aav with 8 million in signing bonuses for multiple years. Who ever we get will be a rental it wont ge a signed player who would have been heading to free agency this year like stone.

Because you know he prefers weather over all else and take home pay over reconnecting with family? You can't rely know that nor can I. So if there is this big dif between small and big markets let's throw in the cards right now!

So school system is better in Vegas? Nashville? More parks? Last I heard Jets were a contender my bad!
Yea I'd rather grow up around strangers than cousins. I grew up in a different city from most of family and was jealous of classmates who had cousins to bond with come to school events.

I get the feeling if a big trade happens, it's tomorrow. Gives a couple practices and no doubt if there was ever a time we needed that jolt back to Jets pressure hockey it's now. I want to see that pack of wolves going into spring. And I think Chevy is smart enough with enough assets to keep this train going moving forward

Almost as if people have different opinions and wants.
I've made very good money being self employed online since I was 16. I could have lived anywhere I wanted, but I stayed here... though I do regret it now.
Maybe Stone being away from Winnipeg for so long would love to come home for atleast the next 7-8 years. or maybe he wants the most money. Maybe he wants to be somewhere warm. Maybe he wants to be on a contender. We have no idea what is most important to him.

Interesting about the self-employed part.

I don’t think hometown really will play a huge factor for Stone. It might play some role, but he can come home whenever he wants. Ottawa is a short flight away.

It’s more the opportunity to play for a contender, if any. Let’s not forget that if he feels the Sens are on the right path and he believes in it, and he wishes to re sign he will. We had key players who committed to our team based on that vision before we were even contending status

Theres [someone] on the main boards who thinks its 1st Connor Vesa Niku Petan for Stone and Dzingel .

Lol.

To be fair, there are a lot of Jets fans posting in there thinking we are going to get Stone for scraps (Petan, Stanley, etc)

Regardless, I'm not even comfortable with giving all that up for even a signed Stone

To be fairer, Stanley and a 1st is likely equivalent to what Stastny cost us. Stone is better than Stastny, which explains Petan in the offer (2nd/3rd round value). Stone is still a rental.

While I think Petan is worth that, I'm not convinced other GMs do.

No it's not the equivalent of the statsny trade. Stanley is a 1st and Foley was a mid round pick. Stanley is a way better prospect then Foley. 2 1st for a rental is to steep a price for any rental.
