goalies age better. I didn't know about the injury. That is concerning but maybe the team could have him checked out first if he gets back in time to be traded
Guess it would be a case by case basis. Smith and Thomas were able to squeeze some good performances in the golden years. But I'm sure there's other examples where goalies are just done done around that age. Well if he heals up, he's still an option. I wouldn't be confident in it though, but as long as it comes cheap, can't argue.

Detroit is interesting in that they've had 4 goalies. Lyon and Talbot have been solid statistically (I dont have a deeper understanding admittedly). Husso and Cossa have been bad. Perhaps the wheels falling off of the Wings is related to Lyon and Talbot's injuries. So we have a direct comparable, and the two good ones are obvious trade bait

I thought they had found their guy in Lyon last year. But yeh sounds like injuries are the only reason a rookie like Cossa and Husso are seeing games. Didn't realize Cossa was seeing games, that's the guy the Oilers wanted.

The goalie market might be pretty favorable after that Blackwood trade. Who else would realistically be in on John Gibson?

Stauffer says he sees the Oilers trading for a player who can play the top 4 on the right side, is left handed and is more of a puckmover than a shutdown Dman..

Probably nobody considering how poor his stats have been, how high his salary is and how much he struggles playing healthy. They've been openly trying to trade him for like 2 and a half years

Maybe they can offload him to a team like Detroit with an asset if the Wings can move Talbot at the deadline in a Husso type swap

Well... i mean we did need Pickard to come and save us in the Vancouver series and that is what he did... it is a fact

We went right back to Skinner because he is the starting goaltender. It was the same when Campbell came in the year before and it would be the same if we brought in another backup to do the exact same thing Pickard did
Or. If we had competent competition and an organization that had even an ounce of a clue about the position maybe we could have rode the number 2 to a cup like Vegas did the year prior.

Sebastian Cossa first 45 mins FIRST win. Takes over after the first after HUsso let 3 in on 7 shots. Wins the shootout.
Getting used to NHL shooting speed your first game is extremely difficult even without a 3 or 3 overtime and a shootout.
Kid just turned 22. He is two years early. Maybe they will get him another game before they send him down.

So you want to bring back Talbot? Why stop there? Where is Laurent Brossoit?

Why do we need more wingers? We got nothing else better to do?

Gibson.....hahaha. Management would be stupid to dump more assets into a black hole. Gibson is waiver wire material.
"Gibby its time to take the buyout. Open up a fishin resort for the summer with a nice tackle n hunter supply. I know just the place. Winter you can hold goalie camps for the kids. --Sincerely KURT

Ain't that the truth.

Tell Skinner that. What did he say after the first game this year where he got pulled?

"The game was too fast for me"

LMAO

I brought up Talbot and Lyon, which shows that I don't care who the goalie is as long as they can help and the price is right. Why are you against any player who just happened to play for us before?

You have to admire Colorado's aggression. They don't let a problem just fix itself

I hope our management wakes up about this.
Exactly this

Yup. Grabbing two goalies with worse stats than our backup. Real ground breaking management there.

Now they have no draft picks or cap space for adding anything else. They blew their load on two backup goalies. This is their roster now.
Blackwood has way better stats than both our goalies. He’s 17th in goals saved above expected. Ours is on the 60s

Some part of me wants to see Stuart Skinner traded so that all of us can actually see how valuable he is to Edmonton and how good he actually is.

Just like Dubnyk was
Skinner is like 60 something in goals saved above expected. He was like 37th last year. He has been the worst goalie to play atleast 20 games or more in the playoffs in the cap era. Facts don’t align with your assessment (again)

Well they're not exactly asleep. They've just been introduced to Syd. Be a shame to disturb them for something trivial like hockey.

Cam Talbot 15 games this year so far and at .915 ....on that uhhh variable team. Last year LA played him 54 down the stretch hard ...maybe too hard cause i remember he looked tired? for the playoffs. I think he cn handle another 35 games per season average for a couple of years.
