He is basically up there in most stats (played 7 games thus far)


I remember him popping out of nowhere during that 2004 lockout. Surprised he is still around. Would be nice if true.

The Oilers should have brought him back on the cheap multiple times in the last 4-5 years (they had chances to do so).

Instead the front offices here prefer to smell their own farts and let it ride on the Koskinens and Skinners of the world, even though Talbot is a better goalie than those guys.

I think they got scared in part by how much Bouchard's camp could use that as leverage. If Broberg is 4.6m for basically 7-8 decent games, then what is Bouchard, who put up Paul Coffey like record breaking numbers in the playoffs worth.

I don't see how it could be used as a comparison since it was an offer sheet. Bouchard would be comparing to players like Makar, Fox and Hughes, which is much worse for us.

Ekholm has a been a beast to start this year though. Best player from the preseason to now.

Totally, he was bad, likely cost them the game. I mean assuming the only logical thing, this will be his future production and play, the Oilers should look to shed him quick, Nurse can play those minutes without any issues it seems.

I disagree that he is the best dman on the team, unfortunately we only have one to consider (Ekholm) and he is getting old. But its not only this last game for me to form my opinion of Bouch, he has two major flaws, but I'm not going to change your mind. His effort and awareness. He has a bomb and is a product of the PP led by two superstars. People can't just go off his stats.

But you don't see it that way if you only think it was the most recent game.

How so? Bouchard gets way more offensive time, way less defensive starts, light years better line-mate, more pp time, more time with the top line and has the same amount of points. Obviously he’s a way better player but he hasn’t played like it.
