This is the way. But they won't do it because they think they are smarter than everyone elseLTIR Kane. Figure it out from there.

At the same time, it seems unlikely that Nashville wouldn’t have at least offered him around the league before going with the waivers option. Given the Oilers’ well-known issues on defence, I’d be shocked if the Predators didn’t at least call Bowman up and make an offer. This seems like such a no brainer if he gets to the Oilers. Use LTIR if you need time to figure out how to make the cap work
Yep. I don’t think there is an Ekholm deal to be made this year. Really don’t think Andersson is realistic. Fabbro is going to be similar to the rental D that you’ll have to expend assets for at the deadline. If you were targeting a RHD that may be available at the deadline, Fabbro would have been near the top of your list.
Now you can get him without sending out any assets? This is why Bowman makes 5 million a year. Figure it out Stan.
Keep your assets to add goaltending at the deadline.
I can see NSH calling EDM and Bowman just feeling like the D is great lol.Oilers don't pick up people on waivers, we just lose guys. When was the last time they actually picked up someone off waivers (not including Lavoie)?
Bowman really makes that much? Gross. If you were targeting a RHD that may be available at the deadline, Fabbro would have been near the top of your list.

Yup. Also, it's Stan Bowman I doubt teams want to make him look good. Wouldn't be surprised if trotz asked for a 1st for 50% seeing our defensive group. Oh well, least they can accure cap until they acquire Connor Murphy for a 1st lol.I can see NSH calling EDM and Bowman just feeling like the D is great lol.
Emotions are what make us human. Unless you are a bot set up to defend the Oilers and Nurse specifically then toucheYes he is trying to do things he shouldn't be and needs to limited to what he can do well but wow your response is tooo oo emotional. Maybe you should consider your preferred stress reliever.
Or is it that im not emotional enough?
Changes to current standings as of November 1st, so there’s 9 teams plus Nashville ahead of the Oilers in the claim priority order.
26 years old.
RHD
2.5M cap hit
UFA next year.
Why is Nash waiving him? This is odd.
In my mind, how much of a sweetener do we need to add in order for someone to take that contract.Nurse has a full NMC. There is no way he accepts a trade to SJ. None! In fact I don't see any scenario in which he accepts a trade if McDavid is still on the team.
If all teams were offering was like a 4th/5th round pick I could see them feeling like it’s more valuable to try and sneak him through so they retain his rights. I doubt it’ll happen thought and I’ll be very disappointed if Bowman doesn’t put a claim in here.Thank you. I think that he is claimed before we can take him, if nothing else than for a trade chip by a lower team. Strange Nashville didn’t just trade him.
Did you just create a whole narrative to get upset about?Really unhappy that Bowman couldn’t find a way to get this player at 50%, even with a third team playing broker. The only asset we seemingly would have needed to give up is a pick for retention.
Now though Fabbro easily gets claimed, plays actual minutes on another team, and sees his value improve. Not very smart work at all by our GM.
In my mind, how much of a sweetener do we need to add in order for someone to take that contract.
At least this one is better then Dermott, Stecher and Emerson but he’ll be claimed by a bottom feeder team that will trade him with retention at the deadline.Time to cry over waiver wire players again? Lets gooo
As of November 1 it flips to this year's standings. I believe the Oilers would be 10th in line to claim him.Waivers claim order starts from current standings as of when? Or are we still going from last years standings?
Either way I doubt Fabbro will be around by the time we can claim him.
Kane is already on LTIR.LTIR Kane. Figure it out from there.
If they picked up Fabbro the risk is that he might have to be the big move to fix the second pairing RHD. As you say there is no other contract aside from Kulak that they could move out to recoup the cap space they would need for a deadline move. And they would pretty much eliminate the chance to accrue space until Kane comes back. So while on the surface it seems an easy gamble it is somewhat more complicated than one might think. At the same time, it seems unlikely that Nashville wouldn’t have at least offered him around the league before going with the waivers option. Given the Oilers’ well-known issues on defence, I’d be shocked if the Predators didn’t at least call Bowman up and make an offer.
Fabbro only makes $2.5M but we don’t really have much wiggle room without a contract going out. The tough part is we don’t really have any obvious contracts around that number to move outside of Kulak (and it makes zero sense to love him unless we are getting an upgrade).
Fabbro would definitely be an upgrade on Dermott but can we afford him?
The obvious play is to call up a team near the bottom of the standings and promise them an asset if they’ll claim Fabbro and trade him with 50% retained.
