Only on HF oil is a 57 goal scorer with all the time in the world to walk in uncontested and pick his spot a “soft goal”.

He's a good player, but it's a shot from the angle (not like from the middle of the ice) from distance.

Switch the goalies and Bob makes that save.

So much cope in here with regards to the finals last year.

Get over it. It was a great final. You're not hanging the series loss on a single player.

Series loss? No. Game 7 loss? Yeah maybe. Kulak/Skinner specifically probably.

That's the margin of victory/defeat, it's razor thin, unfortunately we've been on the wrong side of it twice since the lock out ended.

I'm not really thrilled with the goals Markkanen let in in game 7 either, both goal 1 and 2 were a bit soft but that's how it goes with the Skinners and Markkanens of the world. If you're up against a team with a good goalie, then it's probably going to be your guy who lets in the softer goal at a crucial moment in a game/series.

You lose game 7 you lose the series so it seems like the same thing to me. You also straight up said he cost them the cup.

Sounds like you're saying it's on Skinner. Team should have shown up for games 1-3.

The team DID show up for 2 of those games and goaltending was the primary reason we lost them. money puck had the oilers at something like 80%+ winning chance for 2 of those games if memory serves correctly.

Call up Philp, for sure. I'll be a bit peeved if they bring up Caggiula or something. Then run the following

Perry/Pod-Drai-Arvidsson
Skinner-Nuge-Hyman
Janmark-Henrique-Brown
Perry/Pod-Philp-Ryan

Nuge gets someone who can stir the drink offensively, as he needs that. Run Drai/Arvy as a duo and rotate LW's on that line and just try to find a hot hand.

If Philp looks great, which I suspect he will, and the top 6 looks bad then you can push Philp to center the 3rd line and move Henrique into the top 6 and maybe Nuge back to wing.

Yaremcuck was talking about Ekholm on the top PP, I disagree. I put Skinner up there too. Give him a chance to show he can help our PP, and if he plays great then maybe you think of giving one of the passengers a break from there when McDavid is back.

Yeah losing Mcd for any length of time obviously hurts, but Drai has elevated when he missed time before and thankfully we have the FWD depth to absorb an injury up front. I don't even want to think about what we would look like if we lost a top D for a few weeks.

I think the team comes together and steps up in their Captains absence.

They dominated game 1, and played pretty good game 3 but didn’t get a great skinner start

I'd call up Savoie, Philp, and Caggulia.

Hyman - Draisaitl - Savoie
Podkolzin - Nuge - Arvidsson
Janmark - Henrique - Brown
Caggulia - Philp - Perry

That goal was Foegele’s fault. He let his man pass him which is why Skinner and Kulak were cheating for the pass. All Reinhart needed was that extra second and inch to pick his spot.

I'd call up Savoie, Philp, and Caggulia.

Hyman - Draisaitl - Savoie
Podkolzin - Nuge - Arvidsson
Janmark - Henrique - Brown
Caggulia - Philp - Perry
That will mess with the accrued cap space plan….

Why Cagguila?
Savoie OR Philp to replace McDavid makes sense.
Give Henrique some top 6 time if Philp is called up.
Give Savoie top 6 W after shifting Nuge to C.

Don’t worry guys, Cagguila is on his way.

Losing Lavoie because JJ/SB had their heads up their ass twice is even more annoying now.

For a team that has literally has no farm team, I’m not sure why we didn’t sign like 3 AHL fringe forwards that were still young and have some potential.

Not a fan of Caggiula, and was annoyed by the Lavoie thing, but he's been a nothingburger with the Silver Knights. Wonder if he even would have made a call up here

no one should be surprised by Cagguila, he's leading the Condors in points and has NHL experience

Savoie is kinda useless outside of the top-6

I am a little surprised they recalled him AND Philp though, figured it would be one or the other

Why Caggiula at all, he's just not an NHL player in any way. Pederson would have been better.

Because he provides 'grit and energy' according to Bob.

That may be so, but the injury is to their 1C. So they may want to consider calling up a guy that might be able to plug into the top 6 somewhere
