It's also worth noting that he's playing for Rocky Thompson who the Oilers have a great history with. Having him go back to Windsor would almost be as ideal as him playing for the Oil Kings because of that connection.

If you think about him going back a year older, what is he going to do to that league? And does anyone think he'd be available in a trade if he goes back and has another great year in the OHL?

I completely agree. 15-20 goals and 65 point season?

Another good thing as well is Windsor will be hosting the Memorial Cup next year, which could be a great way to finish your OHL career and play against the best competition.

Again.

So we're looking at a best case scenario of

Sekera - Fayne
Klefbom(probably hurt) - Nurse
Reinhart - Davidson
Osterle

I wonder if you can open and close a new Arena in the same year.

That's unrealistic IMO. Ive come to the conclusion well only be getting one top 4 dman this summer. I'm fine with that if klefbom will be 100% for training camp.

And yet of all 3 of the OHL dmen in this draft Sergachev was the only one in the final voting for the Max Kaminsky trophy, and came away with the award... Look at the guys who've won that trophy over the years, not to many who haven't gone on to have NHL careers.

Let's go trade for Anthony DeAngelo and Ryan Sproul, too. They're shoe-ins if they won that trophy. :sarcasm:

That trophy is voted on by OHL coaches. The NHL is a far, far cry from junior. NHL scouts souring on all three of these guys says a lot more than a bunch of OHL coaches saying he's the best out of the bunch. The bunch being McKeown, Dineen, Chychrun, Vande Sompel and Dermott.

It's not just Oilers Now, its radio interviews in general. Freidman wants to stop because he keeps getting misrepresented, and he's been threatening to do so for over a year now. Frankly, that's entirely his choice and I see where he's coming from.

Freidman is a whiner.

Chiarelli was able to entirely overhaul Boston's defence and win them a cup. Why can't he overhaul our D too?

We've seen what's happening and what this team does. Frankly Maybe a slightly better scenario might be Matt Bartkowski as a UFA, but hoping for anything else is probably a fool's errand

Its voted on by the OHL GM's many of which have some sort of scouting background. Mckeown and Dermott were the other two in the top 3 for voting. And way to cherry pick, I'll do the same which dmen have won it at 17 in their draft years? Yea, the list is pretty damn elite.

Edit: Video of the award presentation. http://new.ontariohockeyleague.com/video/mikhail-sergachev-max-kaminsky-trophy Sergachev is the youngest player ever to receive the award.

There's no Chara to sign. Boston had better pieces than the Oilers too.

And it's Boston. Easy to build for a team players want to be a part of. Even McDavid couldn't drag the Oilers out of last place. They'll probably rename the new arena "Six Red Flags"

Freidman is a whiner.

No, Friedman is a reasonable man who just so happens to be one of the best reporters in the business. Whiners are the people who are upset that they can't get quick access to the exciting bits of his interviews. Nichols provides a service and I know he tries his hardest to represent the content as truthfully as possible. The problem is that people aren't very bright and tend to get worked up about quotes taken out of context. This causes more and more grief for people like Friedman who are just trying to do their jobs, all because someone is leaching off their work and sharing lesser versions of it.

You still don't pick Sergachev 4th.

No one has him rated that high.

He's more of the same of what the Oilers have on d. A kid.

They need established D men and Sergachev isn't the answer.

Maybe, but aren't we at the point where we have to worry if the pick will even sign? I mean just look at the blueline.

Good luck finding one. Teams aren't stupid. Neither are players. Where there's smoke there's a tirefire.

That's fine and all from Friedman, but what does OilersNow have the right to block him? Because Friedman twisted their arm and said no more interviews until you block Chris Nichols? That's what I am mad about. He didn't do anything wrong.

Because he's taking away their business... People can either listen to CHED who pays for Elliotte's appearances. Or they can get snippets from Nichols twitter and site. Nichols' (awful) site gets hits everyday at the expense of other content providers and perhaps their sick of it, frankly I don't blame them.

If they're elite, shouldn't they be winning awards?

And I cherry picked the guy that won last year and the guy that won the year before Ekblad. So 2 out of the previous 3 years. There's plenty of crap on that list--we drafted two of them since 2000.

I don't know about that. I have heard him speak about this issue on several occasions and he comes across as a big complainer to me. How good a reporter he might be is irrelevant.

There are many people who report on sports and he seems to take the lead in complaining about this issue. I do not hear Bob McKenzie going on about this type of thing like Friedman does.

I think it is simply a lack of seasoning and a bit of immaturity on Friedman's part.
