McD can bring Marner over instead. Former TMLs are our thingGotta wonder if McDavid will bring two of his buddies to the Oilers in the offseason.

If Marner is willing to take 12M, that's who I hope the Oilers targetMcD can bring Marner over instead. Former TMLs are our thing

You bridge Bouchard and get rid of some other guys. It's do able.Yowsers... that still feels like a lot for Marner. How do we fit all of that in?
I presume you are trading Bouchard, or do you think a bridge is realistic?
Marner is making 10.9M so 12M is a marginal increase.Yowsers... that still feels like a lot for Marner. How do we fit all of that in?

Would need to be a paycut for Marner to get a chance at the cup.If Marner is willing to take 12M, that's who I hope the Oilers target
Team has next to nothing on the bottom 6 right now. Henrique isn't playing like a 3M player. Perry is arguably our best bottom 6er.With Marner and Bouchard on the team will look like a backward move next season with next to nothing on the bottom 6 but the Oilers would be laughing in 2026-27 when the salary cap is 105M and teams with internal cap are struggling with 90M.
Marner(10), Bouchard(8) and McDavid(10) take a deferred deal, the Oilers could extend Frederic.Would need to be a paycut for Marner to get a chance at the cup.
10x7yrs with NMC and a guarantee to play on a line with Hyman and McDavid
Man, that's not what I heard. Stauffer said he expects the Oilers to look for a number 3 organizational goalie. And my understanding of that is someone who can challenge Pickard for the backup role, not Skinner.Stauffer said today on his show that he fully expects the Oilers to add at least a 1B in the Summer.
Seravalli said how about a full on #1 Goalie?
What? No he said a 1B goalie. Let me find the tweetMan, that's not what I heard. Stauffer said he expects the Oilers to look for a number 3 organizational goalie. And my understanding of that is someone who can challenge Pickard for the backup role, not Skinner.

Let's just see how the playoffs go.. this fan base might not be too eager to give Bouchard over 6M per depending upon how we exit.Marner(10), Bouchard(8) and McDavid(10) take a deferred deal, the Oilers could extend Frederic.
Kane, Arvid and Henrique are traded
I just listened to the show. He said, verbatim: "I do expect Edmonton to engage in signing an organizational number 3 goalie who has played in the National Hockey League in the last couple years." That is verbatim. What? No he said a 1B goalie. Let me find the tweet
How is that a #3 goalie???
How is that a #3 goalie???
Marner would cost 13 minimum, the Oilers could do it but you'd basically have to gut the bottom 6 and bridge Bouchard to a 2 year deal. I only entertain this because they were willing to go after Rantanen for probably the same money.
Marner (13) McDavid (12.5) Hyman (5.5)
RNH (5.125) Drai (14) Savoie (0.9)
Kostin (1) blank (1.5) Podkolzin (1)
Kapanen (1) Philp (1) Brown (1)
Ek (6) Bouchard (8)
Nurse (9.25) Walman (3.4)
Kulak (2.7) blank (1)
blank (0.9)
Goalie (3)
Back Up (1)
Campbell buyout (2.3)
= 95.15 ... just a bit under the projected 95.5 cap.
You would have to get rid of Henrique, Arvidsson, Kane cleanly (no buy outs) and let Frederic walk.
The bottom 6 is thinner, but really not that much different from the bottom 6 we have now, as is the bottom 6 doesn't do much minus Perry who's really old.
Because Alberta has lower taxes than Ontario, at roughly 13 mill/year he'd make approx 725k more per year here but presumably loses that 8th year.
I too listened to the Pod this morning (and maybe I was still half asleep but) that’s what Stauff said but then Frank said they needed to get a more veteran goalie that could play 1A/B, allowing Skinner to continue to develop (but a stronger insurance for position than just a 1B, in case the shit continues to hit the fan).Man, that's not what I heard. Stauffer said he expects the Oilers to look for a number 3 organizational goalie. And my understanding of that is someone who can challenge Pickard for the backup role, not Skinner.
Serevalli did say that, and I'm glad he did. He wasn't having any of that nonsense.I too listened to the Pod this morning (and maybe I was still half asleep but) that’s what Stauff said but then Frank said they needed to get a more veteran goalie that could play 1A/B, allowing Skinner to continue to develop (but a stronger insurance for position than just a 1B, in case the shit continues to hit the fan).
To be fair Soderblom would also challenge for the starting position on the OilersI guess a challenger for 1B spot would be a #3 goalie. (Eg. Soderblom) and not a Gibson.
That's what happens when Pickard is your 1B not because he's good but because Skinner has been so incredibly bad.To be fair Soderblom would also challenge for the starting position on the Oilers
