Didn't think Ceci or Yamamoto were ever considered to move out, team thinks highly of both.

Also we keep our cap to move out and top prospects dry in the event we can move on Karlsson at the draft.

Still think we're light a defenseman, wonder if we'd add an inexpensive RHD and send Broberg down for the rest of the season, he's on an $863K cap hit. Desharnais has been good, but postseason is a different animal.

With Kulak doing better in a third pair role (teeny sample size), not sure the limited amount of playing time even with 11-7 is worth more to his development than playing a top pair role in Bakersfield the rest of the regular season.

Don't necessarily need to grab a rental.

I'd point to guys like Hayes, Henrique, Parayko...
Parayko would be a ton of moving parts.
Hayes has 3 years left after this one at 7 mill. How would we fit that? Henrique is injured and has a NTC and almost 6 mill contract. Unless we are moving our 2-3 players for either and then filling them with AHL guys.
How?

Why? What else do we need? We got a top pair Dman, a 3C, Skinner is playing well. The only place I see a crack is RD and RW but even that's minor.

It's not minor. We need an upgrade on RW. Our RD is thin. Why stop now when you have cap space to get an upgrade.

Listened to am 960 (Calgary sports talk) on my drive this morning hoping to hear some rumours and trades. I was shocked to hear the hosts spend 15-20 minutes of the show ripping on the Oilers, saying that Holland can’t even pay someone to take Foegs and Yamo, Ekholm was just an OK trade, Skinner is a ‘meh’ goalie, and they can’t see McDavid staying for more than 2 more years, etc.
I’m shocked, you never hear the guys on 630 or 1260 go after the Flames that hard. f***ing losers ruined my morning.

I'm sort of expecting something wild on the goalie front today - not for the Oilers, but in the league.

Buffalo, Calgary and Nashville all have real chances to make the playoffs if they can upgrade their goaltending. Toronto might also want some insurance. Take a flier on Reimer? Nedeljevic? Binnington? Hart? Vejmelka? Vladar? Could Gibson be moved today? Buffalo looks like a great spot for him IMO.

Because we don’t have cap space to get an upgrade and what upgrades are available that would actually fit cap wise?

So looking at the Lames. If you could turn Ceci into Tanev (with the money working and not for the moon) would the Oilers be better off? Because I think they would be.

They just need to distract themselves from the darkest year in Flames history.

I'd like to see Holland add a 6/7 D but if he doesn't it's not the end of the world.

I doubt Nashville will do anything considering they just dumped three of their better players in the last few days.

Some here just want to hate-trade Yamo or are just JP fans that still can't get over the fact he got moved lol
and/or are piling on the smaller guy getting injured trope, when there are plenty of smaller players who can physically handle playing in the NHL

Ducks would have no problem retaining on Henrique. Fans on their board screaming for team to just retain 50% and get value and to have him stop willing them to win toilet bowl games.

Parayko I think works easily. Yams + Ceci is almost exact cap hit for Parayko + replacement level forward.

Hayes is maybe harder. But I'm sure there are lots of other options out there to.

Nurse - Parayko
Ekholm - Bouchard*
Kulak* - Desharnais*
Broberg*

For the starred defenders you just run 4 guys by committee in those 3 spots.

Lol I heard that too. They were also making fun of Bjugstads name yesterday. They are so insecure.

I agree nearly completely, but I wonder if Nashville doesn't want to pay Saros at the end of his current deal? And getting value, this year, is easier then if the team is bad next year and they're rolling toward the deadline like he's a lame duck in Nashville? Who knows.

If Holland (even at great cost) turned Campbell into Saros at this deadline, they should build a statue of him.

Man tradewise we are finished. Be happy with what Holland got us and got rid of with no cap space. It's impressive

There's a difference between couldn't make another deal happen to just say "we're done".

Not upgrading RD when they can bring in a player with up to a 1.7M cap hit isn't ideal. It's a thin blue line.

peeves me off too….how they go out of their way to slag the oilers and edmonton as a whole. can’t wait to see this city implode with seasons of mediocrity and no appetite for a new arena for a floundering team

What cap space? We are at 0. Even if we trade Yamamoto and anyone else, we'd need to replace them with similar or better players. Do I want an upgrade? Absolutely, but knowing Holland, he's called on a lot of teams and asked for different players, and if he can't fit them in with trading out the guys we have, we are stuck with what we got. In the end, we upgraded on Defence, and we got more depth on our Bottom 6. I'd say we did very well.

Yes we do have cap space.

We have cap space. They are deciding not to use it.

We have up to 3.9M basically if we want to run a 21 man roster instead of 22 if we moved yam in the deal.

You could also bury shore and trade for someone up to like 1.7M ish if you can get 50% retention
