Cause Kenny sucks balls at negotiating. And I don’t mind Kenny, but cmon, he sucks at negotiating. He can barely put together 2 clean sentences, let alone put together a coherent argument for someone to sign and stay with the Oilers.

Hmm maybe. He seems to grade out so well analytically though.

I think if he comes in at 50% retained he could demand a 1st. But who knows how the market shakes out when TDL approaches. 2nd++ would be worth it for sure though.
Pretty hard to negotiate with someone who doesn't want to stay. But yeah whatever feeds your narrative.

The one criticism I have with Holland's offseason is that I think he needed to make a difficult decision to clear up more cap space. I think at least one Foegele, Kulak or Ceci should of been moved.

Time will tell, how things play out. Holland can always move pieces at the trade deadline to create more space. But I just wish he was a bit more proactive, it always feels like he does the bare minimum managing the cap to get out of todays problems and kicks the can down the road. I think some patience is required and I do think trades are very hard to make these days (we didnt see much activity in the offseason). But yeah ... I would like to see more.
We need more right shot D not less. Moving Ceci is dumb. We need to upgrade Vinny.

Jealous why? We will have no problem making playoffs, and the last person you want in the playoffs is Tatar. He's lazy and dissappears. 13 career playoff points.
Great non signing by Holland

Still need guys to get you to the playoffs. Having a Tatar would help in regular season and take some pressure and ice time off of the big guns. But the Oilers dont have 1.5m to spend so it doesnt really matter anyway. Not that big of a deal but I think its a good bet by the Avs (hes well worth 1.5m for 1 year).

Islands in the stream.
Seriously there are people saying that Tatar at $1.5 million is a bad signing? He's a similar offensive player to Brown at ~40% of the cap hit. Yes Brown is likely the better all around player, but this guy is making basically 4th liner $ and is a lock for 40-50 points.
Yeah. . If the Oilers were adding him some of the comments would be different.

This is a cheap contract for a guy with hands and clear talent that can play up and down the lineup

I mean if we had Tatar instead of Foegele and could run a 22 man roster it would be a lot better. I dont even mind Foegele, but it is what it is. Could upgrade the team for his cap on a team that has no cap.

That being said, Canadian team and all, no idea if these guys like Tatar even want to come here.

I would hope not. But the last couple years, we havent been a shoe in to make it.

I honestly hope that the team is at camp early and they are making it a focus to play a more composed, mature game thats ready to play Game 1. The team should be a LOCK to make the playoffs. But the team generally doesnt start playing good hockey until new years. Hopefully thats not the case this year.

Did you read my entire post? They didnt start playing well until New Years.

Did you watch the Oilers to start the year? We werent good. Yeah we scored a lot of goals. But we gifted the other so many easy goals. And guess what, the same bad habits showed up in the playoffs.

If the team played to their talent level, they would of finished first and they wouldnt of needed to finish 18-2-1 or w/e it was to finish 2nd in the conference.

and the Winnipeg Jets looked like a shoe-in to makes the playoffs and win the Division....until the New Years where they fizzled down the stretch

that's why there's 82 games
